"Manhunt 2.....Yay Violence"

Manhunt 2: Gratuitous Violence??? You Bet!!!!

With almost every new game that Rockstar puts out it causes controversy. I remember the time when State of Emergency came out and that was the ultimate in video game violence. Welcome to the year 2007 where Manhunt 2 is crowned the most violent video game ever made. Even with a toned down version this game cannot be purchased in many countries. This game is violent, censorship or not, this game is not for the faint of heart.

Story 8/10

I am giving the story a eight because I feel that the story is well laid out and that it is told in a manner that makes sense, it is chronologically ordered, and well detailed. There is no way to deny that the story is good.

The protagonist Daniel escapes from a mental hospital and needs to find out what happened to him. With his pal Leo, they go through a violent escapade to discover the truth.

Controls 6/10

The controls can feel clunky at times and the camera angle is very frustrating. I do not like that you cannot look up or down very well, see around corners, and at times you cannot see the enemies due to distance or poor lighting.

Sound 10/10

The sound is very good, it is crisp and clear. You hear what you should hear, for example enemies mumbling.

Picture 8/10

I like how Rockstar made the picture grainy looking, it adds an ambiance to the game. I like how they did the censorship on the game as well. Going from black to white to red and partially using your imagination it makes the execution scenes more interesting. I do not like that when in a shoot out that the lighting can be very poor and your ability to see enemies diminishes. There are times though that you cannot see at all and then Wham an enemy. You need to keep close eye on the radar, and even then sometimes it doesn't help you. The frame rate works well and at times the game's FMV looks great.

Overall:

If you have played the original Manhunt then this is a must buy for the Manhunt enthusiast. If you are new to this type of game then I suggest a rental, but really the game is only thirty dollars so it wouldn't hurt your budget too badly; especially when you consider a rental is close to ten dollars. I would also caution those parents of young children about playing this game it is violent. Otherwise enjoy!
