Predator: Concrete Jungle
Review by patrola
"Amazing, if you know how to play"
Well, when I got this game, I had never saw a Predator movie. However, as soon as I started playing, I figured it was too easy to go the "hack 'n' slash" way. I mean, you're a Predator! No human can stand in your way for too long in this game. Then Xmas came, and I finally got Hitman: Blood Money. And while I was playing, I saw the abandoned PCJ and gave it another try. BUT, I was still with the "stealth junkie" way of playing from my Hitman games, and I decided to play PCJ that way. Four words: Whole. New. Freaking. Game. Don't say it's a bad game if you don't try to go stealth.
Graphics (5/10): Starting with the worst. The graphics of other people are poorly animated, and the city is too smooth and poorly textured. However, a friend of mine said "you can't rate a game with 1/10 graphics a 5/10 overall, but you can rate a game with 5/10 graphics a 8/10 overall." Exactly what I did.
But I gotta say, 4/10 of the graphics score is from the predator. He's amazing, completely animated and very, very well-drawn. The bloodfest is also great, you can feel the blood when it sprays in your face.
Sound (8/10): Nice sound in the game. Apart from some weapons having ridiculous sounds, the overall screams, slashes, bangs and thumps are very good.
Storyline (6/10): This is one of the games with a hard to understand history. But, when you understand it, it's a very good history for an unnamed, unknown Predator. It's also interesting to see the ideas they had for the year of 2030, making this game an interesting science-fiction too.
Gameplay (10/10): OWNED! Man, this game's gameplay rocks. As most stealth games, it's hard to get used in the beginning, but I was playing it normally in the middle of the second level. The stealth kills, combined with an amazing array of weapons, moves and upgrades, makes it one of the best gorefest games I've ever played. NOTHING feels better than stealth killing a guy, blowing up his friends and slicing the survivors in two. And, for people that like stealth, this game's lifespan goes to 10/10.
Lifespan (8/10): There's a lot of unlockables and challenges to play, and you can replay the story mode a lot of times if you like it. I suggest you rent this game, and then, if you like it (probably), you should buy it.
Last Words: This game feel easy if you play it killing everyone with your wristblades and slicing them with the glaive, but, if you take care, use the cloak, lure people with the mimicry, analyze them, sneak up on them and FREAKING STEALTH KILL HIM with those amazing stealth kills the Predator can do, then this game really feels pleasing and fun. Just don't blow your cover, and you'll be replaying it a lot of times.
