Ford Racing 3
Review by Renjuku
"Want to keep your little brother occupied for a while?"
Then this is the game to do it with. I got this game cheap, and it served its purpose for a while, but not for long.
Gameplay- Well, this part is my main problem. Some cars' maximum speeds differentiate completely, which annoys anyone changing from one car to another. A car starts going to 99 and then hops down to 45! There isn't a certain car that is effected by this, and it doesn't just happen when you are turning or anything. Cars also CANNOT be damaged, no matter what you may do. (I think this has something to do with making Ford look good) You just hit the wall and stop. Other cars pop up from behind you out of absolutely nowhere, no matter how far ahead you are. The AI is like a magnet. It serves its purpose and at least keeps you interested for a while, even though you may get really frustrated when you are about a minute ahead and you end up being in 5th place after crashing at the last lap.
Music- This really doesn't have a soundtrack, to be serious. You just hear revving, braking and slamming. They sound good enough, but nowhere near what you have probably been playing nowadays.
Controls- Touchy is to put it lightly. Even when you are trying to drift, don't go too far or you'll spin out. Accelerating is easy, but if you turn at all, your speed will drop tremendously. Speed does accelerate extremely fast if you are going down a hill however.
Car Collection- This is a really cool collection. You can have everything from vintage [like 1930's-40s] to modern cars. Each has a decent feel, but it is fun to beat somebody with a sports car with one of the two vintage ones, which, in retrospect, doesn't make the game's physics look too good...
Graphics- Not bad, I'll admit, but nowhere near, like the music, anything you have been playing on the XBOX 360 or PS3.
Length- Not a long game, but not short on cars or tracks, so you make take a while unlocking everything.
Replay- Replay it with your friends, it is much more interesting with them than with the AI. The AI seems to do the same thing every single time, not varying unless your position is different. (You're in 4th and one car takes another in the lead. You're in 3rd and the car that was overtaken takes the lead.)
Overall- 6/10 It will keep you occupied for a while and also your brother. When you have to entertain someone, show them a copy of this with everything unlocked. It'll work, trust me.
