God Hand
Review by GODHAND42
"Just plain awesome"
Clover did it again. Another incredible game. I'll throw this out right now: I LOVE GOD HAND
Story 8/10
Unfortunately this was one of the areas the game was lacking in the most. Still, superb if you can get past a few plot holes and some unexplained character background/motivation. Though slightly confusing in the beginning, it's easy to pick up after even the second or third level. Its true value lays within the characters. Despite the gravity of the plot, the characters are eccentric, deep, and have so much personality that you cant help but to love them all, even the bad guys. Definitely some of the funniest encounters, even with minor characters.
Graphics 8/10
In game graphics are nothing special for the PS2 compared to some other exceptional games, but the cut scenes are a pleasure to watch and the animations for the special attacks are just plain awesome. Watch somebody get kicked into outer space and tell me that it's not cool.
Sound 9/10
This game has its own theme song. Enough said. Background music is great and fits every situation perfectly. This game features some of the best boss fight music ever, and once you fight Elvis (no, not Elvis Presley) you'll know what I mean. Another great thing about the sound, aside from the music, is the enemy dialogue. Those guys say the funniest things in the middle of a life and death fight. I dont want to ruin any of the clever catchphrases, but I'll tell you that once in a while I would burst out laughing at the absurdity of some of the things they say.
Gameplay 10/10
This game is obviously combat driven. With over a hundred available techniques and tons of special attacks to choose from, you can customize your attack set to fit your own style of gameplay in an infinite amount of possible combinations. attacks have their own properties of speed, damage, and side effects, forcing you to strategize and plan the best combo. Actual combat is fast paced, fun, and challenging once you get to higher difficulties, and the dodging system is easy and natural. Watch in awe at the sheer speed and destructive power released when you activate the God Hand. Once you get really good at the fighting system, you can do some amazing things with this game. Just watch some youtube videos.
Replay Value 10/10
I could play this game a million times. Every time you go through is just as fun as the last, and if you get tired of that, Hard mode will blow your mind. Plus you get awesome new costumes for the protagonists *coughcough playboybunnyoutfitforyourfemalesidekick coughcough*
Overall 9/10
The few flaws that this game possesses are made up for by how amazing and fun it is
