"A great choice for any Formula One game fan"

Formula One 2006 is a great game - infact it's even my favourite racer. I also love the opening video.

I'll split this review into sections.

Gameplay: 10/10
Every game in this world needs to have good gameplay, as it's probrably the most important thing in every game. And the gameplay is Formula One 2006 is outstanding. It's got better AI than 2005, and it shoulden't be too hard either. All the corners and straights are where they should be in the track, it coulden't be any more fun. 10/10

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics also play a major part in all games, especially so that you know exactly what you're looking at. But the graphics aren't perfect in Formula One 2006. I say it's like Super Mario Bros. graphics. Yes, everything stands out, so you can see the turn, you can see the BTA markers, you can see the virtual racing line and even the racing line itself. But everything is a bit dull. There's no detail in the trees or grass, everything is a bit....well, cartoony. But, otherwise, the pit and fuel indicators are clear. And, the cars have more detail than in Formula One 2005, and the McLaren has a silver coat instead of a wite coat, which is something that makes me love the car even more.

Audio: 9.5/10
The audio in this game, I love. Every engine has it's unique tone, and I say the Scudria Torro Rosso's Cosworth engine is the engine that stands out most. And the commentary is clear, so is the team radio. But the only thing I dislike is the lack of surround sound.

Reality: 6/10
All Formula One games need to be like the real thing. Formula One games have a lot to do to be 'real'. I love the GP4 crash videos on YouTube, they are so real. Almost exactly like the real thing. But Formula One 2006, and some games from the past, have failed to provide real crashes. The cars don't fly, roll or flip. If you go on the high kerb at the last chicane on the Nurburgring, nothing much happens. Maybe, you just spin 180 degrees. But the car dosen't spin 5 times. Forget 10. The car dosen't go airborne. The car dosen't jam in the tyre wall when you come zooming at 170 miles per hour. The car dosen't 'bounce of the wall' if you hit it at and angle. The car dosen't tip up if someone digs into you with their nose. The car can't lose more than 1 wheel. You can't rerurn to the pits without your front-right. The reality is terrible. But, there are all 22 cars, all 18 circuit's, so that's OK.

But it's still enjoyable, despite the 'reality', and the graphics, as it's the same in all recent Formula One games. I just wish that there was a PlayStation2 Formula One game with reality included. But for the moment, Formula One 2006 is my first choice for Formula One games on PlayStation2. It's a great game for any Formula One game fan.

Good luck!
James =)
