"A solid strategy game"
Kessen is a very good game with solid elements such as eye candy, replayability, and more. I hope this review will help you in your decision,so on with the review:
Gameplay: Very good gameplay, decent controls and many options makes this game good. But with any other strategy game it pretty good. But at times it can get hectic (you'll now what I mean later on). Eventually you'll get many more option to learn later in the game which adds replabaility to get them all.
Graphics: Wow !! The graphic's in this game are very sharp and crisp. They really took control of the PS2's DVD capability's.It is very detailed down to the bone. Very good graphics. Like when you fight someone you have the option to zoom in on the battle, which is pretty cool becuase you can see how they fight. But its very awesome how you can see hundreds of soldiers fighting or running on horse back. A tip of the hat to the creators in this catagory.
Music: Well when I was playing the game I did'nt really notice the music becuase of getting involved in the game but it does set the atmosphere right.
Sound:Another good acomplishment. The voice actors of the commanders are very good and the yells of the soldiers really puts a lot of morale in you to defeat the enemy. Kind of like Dynasty Warriors 2 but a bit louder. Also the sound of the horse's feet is very realistic as with the Sword clashing and explosions.
Story:The story takes place in the chinese history of the western and eastern territories of China. I think you can choose which side you want to be. But nothing better than to take history of real-life and make it into a game. At times though it can get boring and repetitive but still it's good.
Replayability: This game can have very good replability IF you are the strategy person. I can't spoil anything but with differant sides to choos from that should make you busy for a couple of days. I still have to beat it on the western side.
Buy or Rent: If your into real-time strategy buy it,if not either stay away from it or rent it. I would buy it but then again wait for it to lower $ 40.
Score: 8/10
A very good game for fans of strategy games. Keep Gamin'
