Dynasty Warriors 2
Review by Grahf14
"Huh, huh huh, UWAHHH!!!"
Dynasty Warriors 2 was the first game I bought on PS2. It looked cool, and it is. But it's not perfect. When I first played it I was like ''WOAHHHH, this game is awesome, you can knock people over with a horse!'' Five hours later I was beginning to get sick of it, but taking out ten guys at time is still fun. My Review...
Sound 7/10
The Sound is pretty good. Screams of your allies can be heard from all around, as well as the sounds of you swinging your sword. The one thing that is REALLY annoying is every single time you do your little combo, it's the same ''huh, huh, huh, UWAHHH!'' sound. Sound Effects are pretty good but most of the music is just average. Nothing memorable.
Graphics 9/10
Good Stuff here. It's quite a graphical feat if you can keep 40 people on the screen with no slow down. The character models are pretty detailed, but there is room for improvement. The landscapes aren't very detailed, but it's clear that they put most of their effort into having alot of people on screen at once.
Gameplay 8/10
Fun but can get a little stale after a while. Never completely unplayable, but loses some of its appeal. Basically, you have a guy to kill at the end of a level, and you and you army move forward, while the other army tries to stop you. You get permanent power ups every time you kill an officer, and as a result of this your character gets stronger. You can also get bodyguards, and eventually they become even stronger than you. It's really funny watching your 8 bodyguards run in and tear apart an entire unit. Overall good, but not very deep.
Replay Value 7/10
Gameplay gets old, but there is a whole lot to get in this game. There's a ton of secret characters, and building up everyone's stats takes for ever. If you like to unlock stuff in games, this score would be higher, but I just got sick of the repetitive gameplay. Rent first, and if you play it enough you'll get sick of it before you return it. If you don't buy it.
Overall 7.8/10
Good game, but falls short of greatness mainly because of repetitive gameplay. This is a renter, and it's not at all like the first dynasty warriors. It's better, but only by a little.
