NBA Live 2001

"Not the best of the series but hands down better than 989's offering."

EA Sports NBA live series has always been solid games. This years edition on the Playstation 2 is no exception. Though many features have been taken away, which is very stupid. The game is still solid and a good time to to play.

Graphics 9/10

The graphics are the best we have seen in any basketball game. They are pretty nice. The only complaint is that all the guys faces do not look like the actual player and the players kinda look like plastic action figures player basketball. The dunks and shooting look really cool.

Sound 7/10

More rap music!? It seems every EA Sports game has rap music. It would be okay if they atleast mixed it up with other music. A good rock theme is much need. BESIDES the rap issue the game sounds pretty good. The players sound good but they all sound the same. There is much work need on the sound department.

Gameplay 8/10

The game plays just as all the other NBA Live games do. The camera angle is seriously messed up though you are way to close to the action. You really can't tell where the ball is to rebound it. I've gotten so frustrated when it seems you have just jumped up and gotten the rebound and it's really a couple feet away from you. The game plays soooo slooowwwwwwwww. When the computer takes the ball up they sit there for about 10 seconds. You sit there wait....wait...then they just pass it to a guy and he shoots. Very bad AI. The one on one is addictively fun with 2 people. You can have some mean tournament with that game. Very good with the mutlitab hooked up. Portland is so good on that game that it is just annoying. I can't even believe it has no franchise mode the bread and butter of the game.

replay value 7/10

You'll have enough out of NBA Live 2001 in a couple months. It lasts a while but gets old like all sports games. Still you can play it awhile.

Fun Factor 9/10

The game is fun for a period of time it will get frustrating though. Still it is a good almost great game in my eyes. You will find yourself wondering how you can beat portland under hard. Let me tell you it is no easy task.

If you are not sure about the game still rent it but i would recommend buying it if you actually want a halfway decent basketball game for the Playstation 2.
