Onimusha: Warlords

"A beautiful one way street"
I rented this game and as i do other games, i play it non-stop until i can make out a good idea about the game so i can buy it later, or demand my refund. This game is a little bit different. It's pull-ins are it's astonashing graphics and easy-to-follow story, but then again the story is a little directed.
Graphics: 10/10 The graphics in this game are eye candy, and good eye candy at that. The fluid motion of his combo's are nice and the blood from the zombies are just enough. The fact that his sword goes through walls is not a glitch but if you looked into the story a little more you might see why this happens (I won't spoil anything for you all)
Story: 7/10 Though the story has nice twists and obstacles to get better weapons, that's nice and all but the story is set and you can't change the outcome. The finding of different books to solve puzzles gives it an RPG feel, but if you are looking at this game expecting an RPG you will be disappointed. The story in this game is the equivalent of The Bouncer, a guided movie basically.
Gameplay: 8/10 The controls are a little hard getting use to but what game doesn't? (THPS)! The combo's are nice but repetative. Each sword has three stages and so does it's magic attack. But this little variation keeps this department from being a sinkhole. The idea of unlocking certain areas because your magic power is better and more powerful is okay but this is not an RPG, please do not be mistaken.
Sound: 9/10 I liked the music personally, and the footsteps are perfect to the action he does depending what he's stepping on. The silence of the night as he creeps through the forest and the psycho slash music as you enter the outer gates of the keep, set the tone real easily.
Overall: 8/10 I liked the game and it was worth the money at Blockbuster but this game doesn't have much of a replay value, remember THIS IS NOT AN RPG. If you want an RPG for PS2, Summoner is okay....but it's old (to me atleast).
Rent or Buy: No if's, and's, or but's, rent this game. It is not a replayable game.
