ATV Offroad Fury
Review by DarkAngel13
"The first ATV game I've ever heard of is a pretty good one"
When I first got my Playstation 2 (Known now as PS2) at Costco it came in a bundle package with ATV Offroad Fury. I had only one previous experience playing the game, which was a demo at Toys-R-Us, but it was pretty fun there so I thought that it'd be a good game to start out with on my new system.
Story- You ride around an ATV and you do tricks and race and the such
Sound/Graphics- 7/10 The reason sound gets a 7 is because I don't really like the featured music much, the sounds of the ATV's sound realistic, and some of the screams when you crash are kinda funny
The graphics are BEAUTIFUL. Maybe it's just me, but these are some of the best graphics I've ever seen. The riders and their ATV's are detailed very well, and the levels are very large and almost nothing has polygonal breakup
Controls- 9 Very simple X is to drive, Square is your brake, the only reason I gave it a 9 is because you have to hold down your brake and hit the gas to go in reverse, which is kinda confusing to me
Challenge Level- Some of the in game records can be rather difficult to beat (most of the racing ones anyways, the longest jump records seemed pretty simple to beat.) The career mode is a bit difficult, because some of the riders will knock you off of your ATV to make you lose, and some of the levels are just very difficult (mostly because of turning) but you don't have to win always, usually it's just come in 2nd place or better.
Replay Value- I'm not really too sure what to give this for replay value, the single player mode doesn't hold me too much but playing with your best friend is a blast. Playing tag with ATV's is fun, and you can have up to 4 players if you have a multitap. The career mode may hold some because you have to do it to unlock some extras...but most of the courses are annoying in career mode because all of the stadium supercross ones look the same
Overall- 9 This was my first PS2 game that I got so I probably am supposed to like it, good thing I do. The multiplayer mode will keep you busy for a while if you can have some friends come over and do it with you, and the career mode is ok but it seems repetitive to me. The graphics rule, and the sounds are ok. There is no story at all, but since its a racing game you don't really need one. Main problem is that the career mode is a bit difficult, but oh well.
Final Score- 9
