Evergrace

"A half way decent boring game"

Evergrace is probably the most reconized rpg at the launch for the ps2. It was a game that could not fill its expectations.

Graphics 6/10
The graphics are not exactly something to grab you. Sure they are better than ps1 graphics but I'd hope they would be. Many graphic glitches. For an example if you start turning around you may catch a little white block following you. Which may not bother you but it is just the little things. The graphics are basically a step up from playstation.

Gameplay at first 8/10 as game goes on 4/10

Evergrace is basically a action/rpg kinda like zelda. It has many features not seen in other games like it. For example you can change the color of your equipment making some pretty cool looking characters. You fight randomly appearing ememies with little to no strategy required all you do is wait for your power to go up then hit. You have a power bar which makes no sence. It is your life too. Your attack is based on how hard you press the square button. It is kinda like the mana games by squaresoft except with a pressure activated controller. What is stupid about it is that when you loose life you power restores quicker. However in the world they figured out this logic is beyond me. Am I the only one who thinks that when you are hit you would take longer to recover? Well Agetec don't seem to think so. But basically the game is pretty fun for a while. I feel kinda bad because I've been bad mouthing the game the whole time and I gave it a 6. You really have to play the game to understand how it is fun. It has its points but tragically it falls short.

Sound 8/10
The music is really good. The sound effects are alright i guess that is all to that. The only problem with the music is that it gets repetitive if your running through a land for a while and you here the same thing over and over again but that is why we have steroes. But the voice overs are pretty good nothing bad here just repetive music

Story/options/extra stuff 6/10
Story is a little weak. It is kinda your flatline rpg. A story hasn't been good in a long time. Cool armor options. You can play as two people which is pretty cool.

OVERALL 6/10
I'd say rent if you like it buy it no big lose it is only 20 dollars now.
