Madden NFL 2001

"A game that appeals to almost everyone..."

Personally, I don't like Football games since it isn't played from where I live. I've seen how football games are played and I actually got this game. I though, is this game a football game that will actually make you feel that you're in it. Well, after playing it, is sure did impress me and I've been playing it ever since.

Gameplay/Controls (9): I really think that this game's football elements is, with the lack of a better word, perfect. You actually play like pros and the CPU opponents are challenging. The plays are also excellent since you can always implement a lot of them and take full control of the football. There are various modes of play as well as tons of options. You can also create your own players and teams and then duke it out with the professional teams in the league. I remember the time when I asked myself, when will a sports game will come that will truly imitate the intensity of the sport it represents. This game fulfilled that one.

For the controls, they are well mapped for the controller. You have all the basic controls like running and tackle. The controller also reacts to your button presses quickly. The only drawback is when you're new to the game. You'll find it hard to execute plays. But practice really makes perfect.

Storyline (n/a): Nah. This game obviously doesn't have a story. =)

Graphics/Sounds (10): Now this, this is the most graphically stunning football game I've ever seen! The players move like actual players do and they react to what is happening around them. I.e. they shout after a bad call. The environment is well detailed especially the stadiums. Imagine playing in snow! As for the sounds, the commentaries, the voices of the players are excellently implemented in the game. You won't find repetitiveness here.

Re-play Value (10): As a sports game, the re-play value is always evident. You can try out the numerous teams and you can also try all of the plays in the game.

Football isn't everyone's sport, that includes myself, and most will think that this game will be appealing only those who are football fans. I've proven it wrong since, I don't like football and got interested in it when I played this game. So, I suggest that you try this game out just for a change and you'll see what I mean. And for those who are football fans, you wouldn't want to miss this one.
