Half-Life
Review by Collider
"All that the computer game was and more"
Half life, The computer legend has now been re-incarnated into this stunning PS2 form. After a long wait, And a few launch delays, It is finally here, And it was worth the wait.
Gameplay: 10/10
You can't beat Half Lifes first person shooter format. And can you believe it? Its a first person shooter that has a plot that will actually make you want to see more! What a rare occurrence! With this you get a few play modes, Half Life which is the actual game, Decay which is a co-op play mode (Play levels with a friend, Or play levels with a computer helper), And multi player. Also a handy feature that adds to the game play is the quick save and quick load option. If you dont have a PS2 memory card, No worries. Just use quick save option and it will use the PS2's memory to store 1 game data file that you can immediately start from when ever you die. Once you turn off the PS2, Then its gone though. There are several weapons in this game, And all are of great. another factor in this games great ness is whats missing in a few FPS, the head shot factor. 1 head shot and your enemy is dead. Replacing the effect of some games basic 'Put lots of bullets in the air, Maybe some will hit' with 'Put one nicely placed bullet in its head and save some ammo for later'. This game will keep you playing, But there is only 1 thing that would make you want to give up. I will talk about that later.
Graphics: 7/10
Here is a problem. While for a game it's graphics are good, But by no means great. There are a plenty of glitches, and even some that will get you killed. And when people talk to you, Their mouth moves, Now some would say thats good, But it looks like crap. Their jaw's go all over and they flail their limb's in an attempt to do hand motions. Its not a pretty site.
Control: 7/10
here is the one thing that might make you give it up. the movement controls are extremely hard to get used to, And they are extremely sensitive, One move back with the analog stick and you move back about 2 yards. You can turn down the up/down and left strafe/right strafe sensitivity, But not the forward/backward sensitivity.
Overall: 9/10
I have to give it 9/10 despite the fact that its graphics could be better and its control is hard to get used to. But i play games for the game play, I dont care if the graphics are something that looks like the cat spit up as long as i have fun. And this game is exactly that. Its a first person shooter with a plot that makes you want to play.
