Madden NFL 2002

"The best football game ever......period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I have been begging for a lot of things from a football game, especially with the new PS2 coming out and EA Sports finally delivered....big time. Madden NFL 2002 is by far the most comprehensive and accurate football game this world has ever seen.

The gameplay is unlike any other game I have come across. The moves are explosive real and the hits are bone jarring...I thought it was awesome that you could knock someone's helmet off with a forearm shiver type move.

Where the game really excelled was in the create-a-player and create-a-team mode. These were options that have been lacking or non-existent for as long as I can remember, and now we have everything we ever need. I cant say enough about it. Everything from great colors to choose from to a wide array of logos for the teams. As far as the create a player is concerned there is none better. So many pieces of equipment to choose from and the ability to make even a small guy look jacked out of his mind. This is by far my favorite part of the game.

My biggest question to EA sports is.....Why have these madden games been so good and the Triple play series sucks so bad? Take the same ideas that you had in Madden (create a player and create-a-team options) and implement them in a baseball game.....come on now.

If there are any downfalls at all it is in the realism as far as team records and getting players into the pro bowl is concerned. I created myself and was playing middle line backer, I recorded 140 tackles through week 13 and was not in the pro-bowl. I couldn't figure that out! I discovered that I had not had a pick all season...so i ran the 3-4 drop zone play and the first play of the game I had an interception. Needless to say I was in the pro-bowl after that....that is until I tore a shoulder muscle.

Overall I think this is the best game I have ever played. Until now my all-time favorite football game was TECMO Super Bowl for Nintendo...who remember that? Now that is certainly a thing of the past with the addition of Madden NFL 2002 to the EA Sports roster. Again, they need to figure out how to make more than one quality game per year but,...I cant wait until next year!
