"Star Wars: Starfighter is actually a good game once you see past its flaws"

Whoever thought that a great Star Wars game will come so unexpectedly. I didn't and I then saw that Star Wars: Starfighter is actually a good game. The game mixes some of the better elements of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and even incorporates some from the Nintendo Gamecube's title, Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2. The game is set in an area where the world is taken ever and now 3 Starfighters want to prove that they have what it takes to the save the world from the ugly Trade Federation and to prove themselves that they are talented Starfighters that can soon excel to be Jedis.

The game is really easy to play. Your on your ship and you must steer or commandeer it around the area seeking to destroy all sorts of hazards. From small mine bombers to huge freighters, let me just say that this game has a lot of hazards. Sometimes an area can range on having over 200 enemies( or hazards ) in it. During the game you will command over at least 3 different ships. They all look different, but they are all the same in moving and attacking. Also the game gives you missions or objectives to protect something. This can kind of remind you of saving hostages in some of the first person shooter titles. The game also features top notch control and it actually makes use for the analog. Plus it features over 12 levels where you can destroy everything so enjoy your time with this game.

Now for a game that has good gameplay it will also need great graphics. The game's in game graphics take full control of the Playstation 2's emotion engine and power. However some parts of the area might be a bit blocky, but the graphics are still done very nice. The game also uses CG sequences to hint you on what's happening or to introduce you to some new characters. The sound is great too. Everything from hearing the old Star Wars them to the shootings of your enemies and of the orders of your teammates are all well done.

This game might be worth the purchase, but in my opinion I say it's much more worth it if you rent it. Despite the game having many secrets, it also has some flaws as to sometimes being too easy or way too hard. Oh well, I say for game's like these it really comes down to you choosing what to play.
