"Make sure you rent this game before you buy it!"

I was so hyped up about Maximo. I though for a second hay this is going to be the PS2 killer adventure game! Well, sadly this game is nothing more than a Crash Bandicoot mixed with a little Medievil.

Graphics- 6/10 Overall the graphics are nothing that great. Annimation is average and the levels are pretty average looking. If you have played Jak and Daxter this game is quite a step down. Some of the levels have nice atmosphere, fog, and effects but it is nothing that will blow you away. Slightly above average.

Sound- 6/10 The SFX is pretty good, but the music is so average. I remembered the music in the Ghosts and Ghouls games and they had much better tunes. The music isn't terrible but not great either. Its kind of just ''there''. You will forget it as soon as you turn the game off.

Control- 4/10 Maximo is nothing more than a Crash Bandicoot game with skeletons instead of animals. You collect coins this time around and the game has you going down a straight path just like Crash with some bonus stuff to venture off every once in awhile. Maximo controls better than Crash but the bad camera results in too many deaths with trying to jump from platform to platform. Even worse than platform jumping is very unforgiving...for accident if you fall into lava you die right then and there making this one frustrating adventure. You get the jive...go straight...slash some skeletons, move on..etc. Just like the crash games.

Other flaws- There are many other flaws in Maximo that I must bring up. First, the save system sucks. You have to collect 100 coins to save...which is bad if you are considering to play this game for 15 minutes and leave. Second, the game is too hard for some gamers. Granted its a challenging game..but why no difficulty options for the other gamers? You are given only a certain amount of lives and continues that you must find...and if you lose you start back over..FROM THE START OF THE GAME!

OVERALL- 5/10 If you are looking for a new adventure game like Zelda look elsewhere. Maximo is very similar to the Crash Bandicoot games and Donald Duck gone quackers except with a Medievil setting. Its a tough game, and unforgiving game, and a user unfriendly game. If you like those things than yes maybe this is your game. Its a solid game but this game has ''rental'' written all over it. Make sure you rent before you buy..and don't say I didn't warn you.
