Review by Darth Samson

"Repetitive"

State of Emergency. I don't see what the big deal is at all. It's decent but it's not some awe-inspiring game in the least.

Sure there are allot of people on the screen at once but there are like seven to ten models that are just copied and pasted with different color schemes. Big deal! People don't even fight back when you attack them and some just cower and fear as you wail away on them. Gun shots do little damage and even when they begin to do damage all that you have to do is kill the police and pick up all the health boxes that spill out of their lifeless bodies.

The game play is a mix of Jet Set Radio (without the board), Crazy Taxi (with out the car), and Zombie Revenge. You literally run around following a ''Crazy Taxi'' arrow to your next mission. Each mission is different but yet they all ''feel'' the same. They tease us with 175 missions but truth be told they are simply the same seven missions done over and over in a different setting.

-Break a window and get a box.

-Bring the box to Joe at the auto store

-Meet a fellow rebel and escort him to a store

-Protect the fellow rebel as he plants a bomb

-Mug a cop and take his key card

-Get the key card safely back to your boss (Who for some reason can stand out in the open and never get mugged, arrested, or shot at!)

These ''missions'' get old after the twentieth time so I can not even imagine playing them 175 times. Give me a break. I suppose it wouldn't be as big of a deal if the game were not hyped to be a must own for the PS2 because it clearly is not.

The game saves when you quit but you had better save frequently because there are no breaks between missions. They all go right into each other with no save screen between them. Then again maybe it won't matter if you save for a while. WHY?

Because the game is DAMN EASY! I mean I finished 20% of the game in 2 hours. It is possibly one of the easiest games I have ever played. I am sure (I hope) it will get tougher but so far none of the missions have been even remotely challenging.

Again, it's good for what it is, but all it is, is a hyped up, ''busier'', set in real life with blood and guts tossed in for a ''bad boy'' effect, Zombie Revenge.

I KNEW I shouldn't have got it. I'll give it a week as I got it at EB but if things don't change dramatically it's going back.

5 out of 10
