State of Emergency

"Emergency! Don't buy this game! Emergency!"

Rockstar has become a top name game company in the past few months. After making GTA3, Smuggler's Run 2, Max Payne, they follow though with a boring, repetitive, streets of rage type of game. Don't worry Rockstar your worst PS2 game is still Surfing H30...and will probably always will be. Still SOE Is not a good game and should not be pruchased unless you have too much money to burn in your wallet.

Graphics- 5/10 Pretty basic stuff. The most impressive aspect are the tons of people on screen. Too bad the polygon count is low, textures are pretty bland, and jaggies are easily seen. After you get over this WOW factor then there is nothing left to see. I bet this game game could be done on Dreamcast just wil less people on screen.

Presentation- 2/10 This game starts up like a PS1 game. There is nothing here to go WOW and pop you into the game. The menus are bland and dull. I guess menus were not important on their schedule.

Music- 4/10- Pretty basic stuff. Why didn't Rockstar licence some real good music into the game? I bet this game would be more fun with Metallica or rob Zombie playing in the background but no we are not that lucky. SFX is medicore and plain with not great punch effects as seen in the Street Fighter or Final Fight series.

Control- 4/10- The game controls OK but it is repetitive the arrow is annoying as well. DO an easy mission, then do another smiliar to the previous one. All the mission are similar and after awhile it gets so boring and repetitive since the missions seem to repeat themselves with nothing really new. The game is also too easy I want some serious challenge I think in just a few hours aI have 1/3 of the game beat. Also the characters are pretty bland what happened to the cool character from the Final Fight games? Hagger, Cody are great characteres this pimp bozos are not by any means cool.

DO NOY BUY! SOE is a below average rental and a few days is all you will need with this disappointment. I had high hopes for this game but it is yet another disappointing game. Wait for Virtua Fighter 4 or Tekken 4 if you are looking for a fun game that involves fighting. If you buy you will be sorry cause this game will be sitting next to The Bouncer collecting dust.
