Bloody Roar 3
Review by Ezekial Rage
"This could have been a lot better..."
I own Bloody Roar 3, so now no one can say anything about me not playing it enough. I played it a lot, got to the special char fight (which is hard). The game is overall not too bad, but it could've been a lot better. A lot of people missed the fact of the whole ring out feature from the first BR. It has not been re-entered since BR2, so don't look foward to that. The grade was a little generous.
GRAPHICS: 7/10
The graphics in the game are mostly good, but there are points in the game where you just say ''That looks weird''. The characters all move fluently when they fight, apparently they didn't hold back in that department. The characters clothes move around when they fight, but one of the character's , Xion, looks a little ''less than normal'' when defeated. The beast drives are graphically beautiful, as well are come of the beast forms. All of them were well done. 7/10
SOUND: 6/10
The sound could've been a bit better. Some of the voices are a little annoying, but you can stand them. Uriko sometimes says ''Don't tell my mommy, ok?''. It's just irritating, I can't think of a reason that they would put that in there. But otherwise, the music could've been better. Occasionally you'll hear a quick little bit of good music, other wise, between the ''Ow!'' and the ''Ahhhh!'' you can't really hear it. 6/10
GAMEPLAY: 7/10
This is the only real fighting game in the genre, other than the old altered beast game from the Sega. It's a little different, but it has it's strong points, and accordingly some very low points. The game is fast paced, a definite plus, most of the moves aren't too hard, but then again some are almost immpossible. Some of your favorite characters are useless in this game. Near the end of story mode, most of the game is sadly button mashing and a fast character. The computer can do moves which make them temporarily invincible to your attacks. They do them A LOT. You need to be blocking almost all the time, but it is possible. 7/10
REPLAY-ABILITY: 6/10
For a fighting game, this really does get old somewhat quick. Story-mode will definitly take a few tries, but the other modes, unlike tekken3 and tekken tag are in almost no way different. A different type of mini game inside the actual game would've been a nice addition, but it just wasn't there. There is survival, story mode..etc. But all the modes are all the same thing, with an almost insignificant difference from the last. 6/10
CONTROL: 6/10
The control is a little less than average. It is very basic and hard to pull off combos. Strafing if used correctly will mainly render you invulnerable. Some characters are what gamers call ''Button Pushers'' or ''Button Mashers'' and do combos just by randomly pushing buttons. Jenny, Xion, Uriko, and most of the other chars. in this game are like this. This takes a lot of fun out of the game, considering actually trying renders you at a disadvantage.
STORY: 1/10
If there was even a semi decent storyline, this would've been higher. Each character has a specific... 3 screen (YAY!) entrance which gives you slim to NO information. There is also a 3 screen (Yippe!) ending for each char.
BUY OR RENT: RENT
This game is alright, but it's not worth full price. Maybe if you were to get it used or off of EBAY it would be worth it. The game just doesn't make it over the Tekken Series.
