All-Star Baseball 2003
Review by Ultima gamer
"A must have game for any hardcore baseball fan!"
The next installment of All-Star Baseball is a very good one.Any hardcore baseball fan should give this game a look.
Gameplay
The most important part of every game is the gameplay and this installment of ASB continues to amaze. The tried and true baseball cursor is back and better than ever.Batting actually feels real which means you won't be hitting homers every at bat.You have to work for your home runs. There is some slight slowdown when batting but does not hurt the gameplay much. The baserunning is pretty good. The pitching is probably the best of any baseball series. You have a wealth of options for you to choose while pitching such as hot/cold batting chart to find a particular player's weakness. The fielding glitch from ASB2002(right fielder run around for no apparent reason)is gone(which i'm very thankful for).Fielding is nicely done. It's also great to take out the multi-tap and play with some friends.
Gameplay:9/10
Graphics
This is a category that this baseball series excels in.The player models are awesome. The players faces almost look like their real life counterparts. The stadiums look like the real thing. From the coca-cola bottle in Turner Field,to the big green monster in Fenway Park, everything looks the way it should be.The fans inside the stadium look pretty good. They also hold up K signs when you strike out batters. There is a few problems that marr the graphics from being perfect. There is alot of flickering, specifically the crowds. Not too big of a problem, but worth mentioning.
Graphics:9/10
Sound
The sound in this game is top notch but so was last year's game. The commentary is great but so was last year's game. The sound effects is great but so was last year's game. The sound in this game looks to be ''ported'' from last year's installment.Same thing happens to the Triple Play series. This is not a bad thing,it's a good thing.I just hope in ASB 2004 the sound is upgraded instead of ported.
Sound:8/10
Game Modes
All of the must have game modes are in this game.Franchise mode here and as good as ever. You can now play as many as 20 seasons in Franchise mode. There is an expansion mode that lets you create-a-team and add that team into the Major Leagues. You can take your favorite slugger and hack at balls in the Homerun Derby. The game also takes a cue from the Madden football series and features unlockable trading cards that unlock cheats. You can also play as legends such as Reggie Jackson.Overall,Game Modes is the games strongest suit.
Game Modes:10/10
Should I buy this game?
