Bloody Roar 3
Review by Clovis2000
"Well, well, I'll stick to I and II, but III is not that bad."
I'll say BRII tops this one off. Why?
Gameplay:
Bah, I'll say the gameplay ARE a bit better than the last two installment. But the problem is lack of Story mode, which is my favorite in BRII. It also lacks some special options like Any Cancel Point, which is the most important, in BRII. Now all characters can move into Hyperbeast, which is very similar to Rave in BRI. This will give you an unlimited chance of using Beast Drive over and over again without reverting back into human. Unfortunately, hyperbeast last only twelve seconds and once it's over, you can't morph into beast form again for the entire match. Which is LAME if your opponent blocked your attacks cleanly for twelve seconds. After that, you are dead if your opponent still can morph.
Control:
The control and combo systems are all beautifully designed. There are an unlimited ways of making a long combo. One flaw is that all BD are a bit too easy to activate. Just press P+K+B and that's it. It's very easy to activate Beast Drives accidentally at the time you would least want to happen. It's extremely fustrating if you accidentally activated Beast Drives in the midst of a combo and you MISSED.
Story:
...It consists of only four pictures for every characters, with some text. But that was all and those are in Arcade. The story is LAME, all about Tabula. Why? Because it's missing a Story mode. Without a story mode, how can we explore more about the stories using only FOUR pictures and a few lines!? LAME.
Graphic:
Really, I don't have anything to say about it, except for a few flaws. It's the blood. If you stab at your opponent as Bakuryu/Kohryu, the blood will pour out as if it's a dripping faucet. LAME.
Sound:
Nothing really to complain about on the music. But there are so many flaws on the voice overs for the characters. For example, Uriko says: 'Don't tell my mommy, okay?' in her victory pose. It was so immature for a 15 years old girl. Bakuryu sounds alot like an adult when he's also only 15: 'Is that all?' Yugo's battle cry was so over used and annoying: '1-2! 1-2! Upper!' Xion sounds like a GIRL. And Uranus' sounds when she got beaten was so loud that even a deaf player, like me, would need a pair of earplugs.
Overall:
Pros: Nicely expanded combo system. Nifty graphic.
Cons: Too many character flaws in their personalities. Storyline too lame. Bad usage of sounds.
