Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeonic Front

"Sluggish controls and bad AI ruin a Gundam game with possibilties!"

I really hate to give a Gundam game such a low rating, but it is true. We will start at the beginning.

Graphics 10/10
The true redeeming factor in this game. The graphics are incredible and there is absolutely no flaws in them that I saw. There is one other redeeming factor in this game...

Mecha 10/10
The Zeon have always had awesome mobile suits. Let's face it, almost every Zeon suit looks better than any Federal suit. The Gundams are nice, but the Zeon have the true winners. The possibilty to finally pilot these awesome creations had me sooooo anxious.

Controls 1/10
Horrible! the controls on this game are so sluggish. The Zaku's can't even use their vernier much, only a very difficult to execute dash forwards. I was getting shot at on the first mission and tried to move in the shoot him. He just drove circles around me while I tried to turn around to fire at him.

AI -10/10
Yes, a negative 10 out of 10. The games puts you in command of 2 teams in the first mission. You can only control 1 suit from either team at a time, the leader. While you control one team, the other follows a pre-planned course made by the computer. The other team walks into enemies and gets killed by worthless tanks that the Zakus can kill in one hit. There are only 3 such tanks. When both leaders have been destroyed, the game ends with your defeat. You cant win with only one team, and seeing as the other team gets destroyed so easily, the first mission is impossible.

Don't know. I rented it and gave up on it when I learned of it's many flaws.

Idea 10/10
The idea of playing as the hated Zeon is very cool. I have always liked the Zeon better.

Closing: Some will say that I didn't like the game because it wasn't easy enough. I like a game to give me a challenge, but one I can overcome if I try hard enough. The flaws in this game doomed it. Also, I see another reviewer called this game ''strategy'' game. How can that be? This game involves little strategy. Strategy games are games where you control everything your side does, not pilot one part of your group while the rest get shot up and die! I am a huge Gundam fan and was vastly dissappointed in Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeonic Front. If you still want to see for yourself, definately rent it before buying it. Otherwise you will regret it!
