Gitaroo Man
Review by Pesimisterosa
"Gitaroo Man... The Legacy..."
Aparently, people have been missinformed or not informed about this exquisit new game, Gitaroo Man. Gitaroo Man is not a meere game, but an experience all its own. Music lovers nation wide should be lining up just to play it. But, obviously, nobody has even heard of it. Thats where I come in, to inform the masses about this inovative and excellent experience.
Sound 10/10
Evidently, a music game must have adequet sound qualities and, of course, songs, and GM does just that. The songs were made by a Japanese Rock band named Coil, and I must admit, their pretty talented. Every beat is perfect and every note excelently orchestrated. Rock, Hip Hop, Techno and Metal, are all mixed up into a yummy milkshake of pure genious. I would definitely like to get some guitar tabs on this game and have jam sessions with my friends. Definitely a killer soundtrack.
Graphics 9/10
The graphics are one of GM's strong points. Spectacular visuals effects (like laser beam zappies :p) are constantly wizzing through the air. The character models resemble something out of Grandia, but have their own quirky apealing style. Basicly the only downsides to the graphics are that your too busy playing the game to look around at the environments and sometimes the camera spins too fast is is a bit distracting. But those are insignificant setbacks.
Control 9/10
The controls are simply perfect. Holding the controller you feel like your accually pulling off the major riffs and blocks yourself. The controller also has three different set ups. The default setting works fine for most people, but for people with small hands or kids, the other two settings are okay. I, for one, can't play with the other settings, only the default will work. By pulling riffs off you use the left analog stick and triangle, x, o, or square. The only setback is sometimes the controller seems unresponsive. Maybe its just my controller...
Gameplay 10/10
GM has an enourmous amount of replay value. There is a master mode once you complete the single play mode and a VS mode. The VS mode is one of GM's shining points. You and up to three of your friends can play seven out of the ten songs. Its a shame though that you can only play those seven, because the three they missed would have been mad fun to play multiplayer.
Overall 9/10
GM is one of the few games I actually purchased on the first day I played it. It is an amazingly adictive experience that must be played to be understood. No words can describe the impact this game has made in the music Genre for videogames. This game must be rented for at least two weeks if not bought. I strongly suggest GM to music videogame players that are searching for something new and crazy.
