Half-Life

"Half-Life. Enough said."

Well, I love Half-Life to death, (Well Emm, why did you give it a five then?) I was just getting to that. If you have played or own Half-Life on the PC, there is very little reason to get it for PS2. So now lets get on with it, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Graphics: 8/10 Anyone whose played the original will squeal with joy the moment the tram ride kicks in, but for a PS2 game, they could have done much better.

Sound: 2/10 exactly the same as the PC version and a little worse, while the voice acting and music is really good, their speakers must have been busted or something, because it sounds like a throat cancer patient with a vioce-box talking, everything seems somewhat lower in volume

Control: 5/10 BLECH! I don't know if it's because I'm just getting used to my new controller or what, but I'm a PC VET and could sweep through the Hard setting with no trouble, now I'm barely scraping by on easy, the redeeming factor is however, it's 100%configurable, which helps a lot.

Gameplay: 10/10 It's Half-Life dude.... Half-Life... for those of you who don't know, Half-Life is quite possibly the greatest FPS ever. it requires an itchy finger, sharp intellect and an abstract sort of strategy, it is a truly riveting expierience, not for shallow gamers, however, so if you judge your games by how many guts fly where, or just how pretty you are, you may be out of luck. Half-Life runs much deeper than your typical brainless brawler.

Overview: Well, for a PC veteran, this offers little more then pretty graphics for teary-eyed nogalistia (*sniff* Little Gordie's all grown up...) A pretty fun 2-man deathmatch and a headache of an expansion called decay, but if you own a PS2 and have never expierienced Half-Life, what are you doing reading the review? Get moving to your local video game store, chop chop!

Rent or Buy: well, if you own it on PC, i would suggest a rental just to see the brand spankin' new graphics, but if you havent had the joy of Half-Life, I would go out and buy it right away. That is not a mere suggestion. It's an order. (And if your going to have to grim and berar the PS2 version, I would suggest picking up they ps2 keyboard mouse thingy, you WILL thank me)
