"A Worthy Sequel To A Great Game"

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is an extreme sports game at its finest. Large levels, lots of moves, tons of characters, truckloads of secrets; it hooks to the gamer into it until theres nothing left to finish.

Graphics
First of all, let me state that the graphics in this game are sub-par at best. Characters look iffy at times, and the backgrounds for some of the game look kinda blocky at times. Also, the crashes from the 1st game could've used some serious work. If any normal human being was to land in the position's these riders do, the human population would be to a minimum. Some of the levels look kind of boring too. At some points, you'll just want to stop a current level because its so god dang repetive. While the things you can trick off of in each enviroment each look good, the backgrounds themselves can are quite bland in most levels.

Gameplay
Something Dave Mirra excelled at in the first game greatly, and pulls off nicely in this one. I always enjoyed creating new lines in this game, and never really tired of tricking off of everything in sight. But, something tricking off ANYTHING, let alone one thing, can be annoying. For instance, sometimes, when I was to go up one side in a half pipe, I would just, all of a sudden crash in mid-air, and NO, I did not bail. Also, at other times, I would barley tap a wall, or any other object for that matter, and I would crash. Again, your rider has to be PERFECTLY straight to land anything almost. Any degree off, and you kiss the asphlat. Huh? What? WHY? Another thing that baked my biscuits, was the challenges. Some of them seem IMPOSSIBLE (when you start playing you'll know what I mean.) If you grow mad easily at games, be wary. But, if you can get past those bits, Dave Mirra has alot to love, and you shouldn't grow tired of this game.

Controls
Dave Mirra's strongest point in my mind. I've always loved the controls in this game, or any other extreme sports game for that matter. The tricks you can pull off in this game are simply mind-boggling. Although, some tricks will have you scratching your head at first, wondering how your supposed to do them (the directions they give you are wacky). One little nit picky bit though: they should have put the bail on one single button. Other then that, great, great controls.

Sounds
Davey Boy excels again. Sadly, unlike Maximum Remix on PSone, there is no music CD. But, I highly doubt you'll tire of some of the tracks in this game. The rider sounds on the other hand, aren't done quite as good. Some of the grunts and groans just don't sound, well, HUMAN. Also, whenever you crash into ANYTHING, you'll hear the exact same sound, if anything at all. Believe me when I say, that if it wasn't for the game's music, then this score would be MUCH lower.

Final Thoughts
DM2 is a great game, and a wonderful waste of time, in my opinion. They improved (finally) on some areas of the first, and added greatly to alot of spots which needed help. If you didn't play the first one, or your just looking for a great time, look no further.
