Resident Evil Code: Veronica X
Review by Dauragon C Mikado88
"Capcom does it again!"
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X (also know as Resident Evil Code: Veronica Complete is the ''improved'' version of Resident Evil Code: Veronica originally released for the Dreamcast. There are some things you should consider if you wish to buy this game, and some things that you wouldn't want to buy it (if you have the DC Version)
Story 9/10
I really think Capcom tuned down the story for this game, in the other games, such as Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, the game told you about umbrella in a universal sense. This game is focused on one umbrella group in general, the Ashford Family, your mission, as you play as the returning Claire Redfield (RE2). Is to escape from the prison island and find your missing brother, Chris Redfield (RE1). As you probably already know, monsters and zombies will be sure to haunt your every step.
Game Play 10/10
Some people would probably strongly disagree with me here, but I believe that the Game Play is excellent in this game, better than any of the RE's to date. Everything is more affective...(possible to clear much of the game with a knife!) As well as I felt the game was made a bit...easier here. Nether the less, still the same hard RE, as it goes on.
Audio Specs 9/10
Awesome! The sound effects are MUCH more cleaner than the past RE's and I mean MUCH. It's no RE Remake audio's but the gunfire is pretty much the same as the past RE's (similar to RE2) But cut scene audio sounds much better and explosions are well done.
Environment 10/10 (could go higher)
Whoa! What a major improvement! The environment around you is almost 10X as advanced as the past Resident Evil's, the sounds of footsteps making mucky noises in the rain, the rain in general, some lighting effects in different areas. Definitely increases the game play.
Graphics 10/10
Solid graphics. The graphics are again, 10X as detailed at the graphics in RE1-RE3. The graphics aren't scratchy, and they don't do that funny thing where they raise their arm when they speak. The characters are awesomely detailed in cut scenes, and the FMV's are beautifully done.
DC Version Differences
All right, so you want to know, ''I have the Dreamcast version, is this worth the buy?'' Well...err...no. It's actually not, Even though I bought both, because I'm a major RE fanatic. The only big difference is an extended ending, and a special cut scene. Other than that, nothing else, unless you just want the Devil May Cry Demo.
Rent or Buy?
If you have the DC Version, I strongly suggest you simply rent Veronica X, just to play the game, beat it, that’s it. It's not really worth another $50 dollars. However, if you don't have the DC Version, consider buying this one, it's a major improvement to the RE series, that is an almost must-buy to add to your collection.
