Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Review by Counteray
"Good gameplay, no story"
When I first played gauntlet dark legacy, I played it single player mode. It was pretty boring. But when you play with a couple of your friends, it can be awesome, this here is the perfect RPG game to feature multi player on ps2. I was able to kill lots of time with this game, it was that fun.
STORY:0
I shouldn't even rate this part, there is no story to the game whatsoever. This is more of an Arcade game but still, even Arcade games have a story to it. This one is just choose a character, start hacking and slashing. For some people this could be a good aspect because of gameplay, for others it could be unacceptable.
GAMEPLAY:10
The gameplay is pretty fun. This is what the game is made out of. You choose a character, and you strike down enemies, get money, with the gold you get, you can buy temporary power ups such as being invincible. You can buy statistics, like more hit points, attack, defense, etc. In the gameplay you can play with 4 of your friends like I said earlier, and you and your friends can mop the floor. There are also promotions you get, when you reach a certain level. Leveling up in this game is far beyond hard. I managed to get my character (blue knight) to become a paladin in one week, all I did was face a boss continuously and I increased to level 99 with no problem. This is the best part of the game.
GRAPHICS:7
Not exactly the greatest but its tolerable. The characters look some what of a cartoon. The movies in this game last for a total of 5 seconds, and have no point, all they do is show you a secret location. And the movies themselves are pretty bad.
ENTERTAINMENT:9
The most important factor in the game, does this game keep you gripped onto your controller? Yes it does, it does exactly that, I managed to play this game for 40+hours. The game is somewhat short, but to complete it is easy. The true challenge lies in finding the Rune Stones, and other secrets. This is also the best game for multi player, I can't express this factor enough.
OVERALL:7
Even with its great deal of entertainment, it would've been nice to include a story, and better graphics wouldn't have hurt either. This is pretty much an arcade game brought to you at home. I would recommend a rent if your friends are over, its simply not too fun to play by yourself in this game.
