Mister Mosquito
Review by Master Tony
"Mister Mosquito is Very Neato!"
Gameplay = 8/10
The gameplay for Mister Mosquito is pretty simple. The game is focused towards either children or adults. The game starts off by introducing you to Mister Mosquito. The infamous bug you control. He'll be the predator for the poor Yamada family. Your job is to suck their blood and fill up your blood tanks. At first, the game may seem easy, but the game does get harder and harder. In the later stages you'll need to avoid perilous hazards in order to suck blood. If you're spotted by one of the Yamada members you'll enter a ''Battle Mode'' in which you'll need to stun relaxation points to end the battle. A battle timer will start to see how long it takes you to relax your prey. The game controls are pretty simple and they can be learned in a matter of minutes. All in all the gameplay is simple, yet the game itself is challenging. A unique combo in a game that you don't see real often!
Sound = 8/10
Some of the sounds that Mister mosquito make are hilarious to listen to. When you suck blood or pierce the skin of one of the Yamada people you'll hear funny sounds. Each of the Yamada members sound different and unique as well. The father sounds like a strict ''old-school'' type. The mother sounds a bit British which is strange since she's Japanese. The youngest Yamada member sounds like a cheerful happy young girl, which she should because she is a young girl. The music is great! At times the music will be a bit of pop, a bit of jazz, a bit of slow rock and a bit action-like. The music fits the right mood. If you're in a small room they'll play a softhearted type music.
Graphics = 7/10
The graphics in Mister Mosquito are a bit ''blah''. I would expect more from it on the PS2(like FF10). Some of the details are very nice, but it looks like the graphics were designed 3 years ago. The graphics aren't a very big part of the game, so you shouldn't even notice it. The game's pretty much strategy/puzzle so you'll spend more time solving the puzzles rather than concerning yourself with the graphics.
Replay Value = 9/10
The first time you play this you'll want to play it OVER and OVER again. What other games allow you to suck the blood off innocent people as a mosquito? The gameplay will bring you back for more and more each time. I can guarantee that you'll spend plenty of time in this game. No other game features a cool looking bug that allows you to suck blood.
Pros VS Cons
Pros- Controlling a mosquito(not many games do that), Funny sounds, great music, great voice acting
Cons- Difficult stages near the end
Buy Or Rent
I would suggest people to BUY this game because I got mine for only 35 dollars BRAND NEW. That's not bad considering that every PS2 game that comes out is around 50 bucks or so. You'll have a warranty on the game as well, so if you don't like it(which you shouldn't) you can return it. I bet you won't find this in any game rental store so you might as well buy it!
Conclusion = 8/10
To conclude, Mister Mosquito is very NEATO! I would suggest that you buy this game. If you're still unsure you could rent it, but that won't help you because you could spend hours and hours on this game. I would recommend this to anyone(and I do cause I work at Funcoland) that likes a puzzle game. The game itself is unique. I would never think that a gaming company would create a game like this. I give a salute to all those creative minds out there!
