Legends of Wrestling
Review by HardKore ChiK
"Pretty good game overall, somethings that are kind of iffy. Like I said, overall, one of the best 40 bucks my parents coughed up."
Graphics: 9/10
The only thing that disturbed me a bit, was that the wrestlers kind of looked like bricks. There's of course the wrestlers like Ricky Steamboat and Rob Van Dam who looked 100% real. It was also interesting that they did a Street Fighter type deal with the end of the fight photos, where the winner looks spotless and the loser looks all beat up. The costumes are great, colorful and authentic looking.
Control: 9/10
Overall good controls. I liked the idea of having to click the grapple button (O), and then having to click either, O, X, Square, or Triangle to determine which move type you do,(i.e. suplex, power bomb) then after that you still have to click one of those buttons again, to pick which move you do from that position. It's hard to do finishers, as I still haven't done one, that was the only problem I had with the controls. Maneuvers are easy to do, but the transition from other wrestling games is hard. You'll get it after a while.
Sound: 8/10
Thankfully the sound is better that Wrestlemainia 2000,(isn't everything) but the main issues I had with the sound were, it was kind of blurry and the Music wasn't authentic, but i'd have to guess that is because of copyright laws.
Gameplay: 9/10
The hasty music and difficult finishers, of course knocks it down a notch. This game in my opinion is made for the creative mind, you need some intelligence to play this game, so if you have a hard time with the ''WWF(E) SmackDown!'' series, I would suggest, you NOT waste your money on this game, because you will be tearing your hair out.
Replay Value: 9/10
In my opinion this game, outdoes the ''WWF(E) SmackDown!'' series, because I think the series runs, too fast people seem to complain Legends of Wrestling runs too slow, but I'd much rather have a slow, controllable game, than a fast, unrealistic game. Create a legend, I've yet to deeply explore, but from a quick look at it it looks great. The Season Mode, will keep you busy for hours at a time, I would go deep into details but my game keeps freezing, but no worries, it has nothing to do with the gameplay, I just had it shipped to my house.
RENT OR BUY
I would suggest you rent it, that's what I usually do for all games, just incase you personally don't like it. Just a little tip: NEVER HAVE IT SHIPPED, because there's a risk of 'City Worker' type shipping, which is lack luster at best.
