Prisoner of War
Review by Jules Rules
"Do you have what it takes to escape from the Germans?"
I didn't really look forward to this game but it was made from a company i have tons of respect for; Codemasters. I really enjoy playing their games, but for some reason i didn't really look forward to Prisoner of War. What i do think of the game? Find out with my review.
Graphics
When i first started Prisoner of War the graphics didn't really look good, but it didn't stop me from playing it as graphics do not always make a game. I continued playing and i got really into the game and ignored how bad the graphics was. I think you will think they're pretty weak at first, but once you continue playing the game then you will just ignore what the graphics are like, like myself.
Overall: 7/10
Sound
The sound is quite nice, with music throughout the game when playing but you will basically just ignore the music as you are too hooked up with running away from a German guard! The speeches of the characters are not bad at all, you choose what the character you control will say. Their is also Irish accents and more in the game. The only problem is that the German accents are not that good, they don't sound anything like Germans really. The sound of the Germans voices won't affect you from liking the game, though.
Overall: 7/10
Controls
How you can rotate the camera with the R3 button takes a long time to get used to because it was too confusing with me for some reason. It will take time to get used to and you will probably be pretty mad with it, especially when running away from some kind of German guard who spots you and you want to turn the camera. But that is the only bad point about the controls, everything else is okay.
Overall: 7/10
Story
The story is good, but i guess you can already tell what it's about with the games name and what you have already heard. If you don't know, you are a man named Captain Lewis Stone and you basically are captured by Germans and have to escape. It is a quite long game. I, myself, found the game at first really tough and hard. It will keep you playing for hours and will definitely suit you.
Overall: 8/10
Gameplay
Prisoner of War is real fun, you can have some fun with the german guards and everything and a lot of other stuff too. The game is hard at first, but you will get used to it and continue to love the game. There are many different camps you go to with the Germans, each getting harder every time.
Overall: 7/10
Replayability
Once you have completed the game, you will probably want to play it again because on your first try you will find it hard. On your next try you can feel the game a lot more and try to get everything you missed. I have played it a lot after i have completed and i'm sure you will, too.
Overall: 8/10
To Buy or Rent?
Definitely buy Prisoner of War, if you rent it, i think you won't like the game that much. But if you buy the game then you have time to get into the game and that you will, because it's very addictive after a while. So, definitely buy the game. If you wish to rent, feel free but i think you should buy.
