"What kind of name is "The Thing?""

I have one word for this game…Horrible. I was very hyped about this game, I couldn’t wait! But to be honest, this game was nothing more than a Project Eden, with just controlling 1 person. In all the years I have played PSX, and PS2, this is one of the worst game’s I ever bought, that’s why I’m returing this today…

Story 8/10

The story is the strong point, I liked it, b/c it gave me a Resident Evil/Dino Crisis game(That either two are no long on PS2, that’s why I wanted this game so bad). Basically, you and a group of army studs, head down to Antarctica, to find out what happened at Outpost 31. So you find some alien things, but the characters act normal when they see them, it wasn’t like RE or DC where you’d have a cut scene seeing your first monster, and look like their about to have a hard-attack no they made it look like it was just another easy part of the game…witch bring me to my next point…

Gameplay 3/10

I have played a lot of games. Action, Adventure, RPG, Sports, and Fighting. By far I will have to rank this one of the worst I have ever seen, 2nd to the Simpson’s wrestling. I’m try to put out a fire, that looks like it right in front of me, I turn on the fire extinguisher, and nothing happens, so I take a step, and finally puts it out, only to get burned. The Flame-thrower and Blowtorch make me sick, I shoot(may I add it points towards the ground) and I catch on fire?! What the hell is that! Shooting is a huge pain, cause your dumb partners get in the way of the line of fire. And this is junk! Maybe if I give some weapons to my partners…but wait…I forgot, they only shoot when they want to, they make you do all the work.

Trust/Fear System 4/10

It had the ideas. It was a great idea, but to bad after I give my guy a blood test to see he’s alright, about 5 seconds later he transforms into a monster? What’s up with that? Then, (this right here you must read) Can someone explain to me how I can give my guy a weapon, to get his trust, but I can’t give him ammo? How is he supposed to shoot? The only way is if he finds his own ammo. That is completely dumb, especially when I have a crap load of ammo, for that same gun.

Nothing special, just you’re average, normal stuff.

Disgusting, I really will never but a game like this again. If you are looking at screen shots, and debating, then don’t get it, cause that’s what I did. If you liked games like MGS2, DMC, Red Faction, GTA III,(which all the guys on “The Thing” board hate) then this game is not for you.
