Sega Sports Tennis
Review by Darkmage41
"Sega Tennis 2k2 anyone..."
Intro
One of the Dreamcast most critically acclaimed game is finally on the Sony Playstation 2 .
Was it worth the wait? Does it live up to the Dreamcast original?
Graphics
Well Ive played some of the tennis games on the PS2 and comparing to them Tennis 2k2 looks Fine and in some areas superior but this is only comparing to the Tennis games genre not all games.
If your question is does this tennis game look better than the rest of the tennis games currently out, then the answer is Yes.
Some players look exactly like their real life counterparts but the others don’t look alike at all but if you want to know how they stack up with the rest, then Sega tennis models are the better then the rest. If you’re a Venus and Serena fan you wont be disappointed cause both of them are in this game.
The game does suffer from the Ps2 famous Jaggies but nothing that distracts you from gameplay.
Gameplay
Its very easy to pick up and play this game even if it’s your first time playing a tennis game. It gets very addicting at first but later due to the rather simple gameplay structure it gets Repetitive. The game does not include the very Important aspect of tennis that is Angles which makes the game even more easy. You can literally fire shots in very dangerous directions with out fearing for outs and net.
Sega clearly wanted this game to appeal to everybody which explains the no angles but Sega ultimately made it easy which is good for first timers but bad for people who are already used to most tennis games. Multiplayer is definitely the best compared to the rest of the tennis games.
Sound
The sounds of the racket and ball are pretty much nailed down and the players grunts and Occasional screams are also nice to have. There is also music but that doesn’t matter when playing a match.
Replay Value
World tour mode will be taking up most of your Single player time, you train and play until you become the champion. There is an exhibition mode for matches against Friends and family, this mode is wear your skills will truly be tested if playing against a skilled player.
Tournament mode is well kind of disappointing because you just play random people till you win the cup. There are a couple of secrets here and there but they’re not all that. Overall the game will Last you more than 3 weeks and occasional returns when friends are over.
Overall
A good tennis game, that’s is highly recommended to newbies to this genre but for experienced player might want to give it a rent at first and then decide. Much better than some of the Tennis games currently out.
