Red Faction II

"Revamped Geo-Mod? It's just not there."

Let me start by saying that I am one of the hugest Red Faction fans around. I'd rate the original a solid 10! I loved first game so much! The multiplayer, yet limited, offered nice action between me and friends. Theres Soooo much of a difference between Red Faction 2 and the orginal one. A little too much if you ask me.

Graphics: I dunno if they are worse or better! In the very first level, the graphics seem very unpolished and muddy. Some of the levels are like that but for the most part the graphics are ALRIGHT. However not that noticable in single player its TOTALLY different in the Multiplayer. The colors seem too bright in certain maps and so are just way to small. Smallness of a map plus the bright color doesn't mix very well. 7/10

Sound: Nice sound effects from both the weapons and explosions in the game. No complaint here with that or the voice acting. 10/10

..Now for the Largest reason why this game only got a 7 from me. THE GEO-MOD IS HORRIBLE!!! BOTH IN THE SINGLE PLAYER AND MULTIPLAYER! In the original Red Faction, Players were able to literally tunnel so far into a level it wouldn't be even funny. Yet, not needed, Tunneling showed off how sweet this new Geo-Mod was. Did you like it? I did. However theres NO tunneling in Red Faction 2. NONE! Revamped Geo-Mod? NO WAY! Toned down is more like it! Remember the stages in Red Faction? Where you could literally blow holes in the walls so far into them and make a little snipers hole? Forget it in Red Faction 2. The most you can do is blow a wall up revealing a weapon or ammo. The Geo-Mod is almost non-existing.

If the Geo-Mod remained great like it was in the original then maybe the graphics would seem better to me. But The Geo-Mod...get ready for this....SUCKS in Red Faction 2.
Don't get me wrong people, the game is good. Its just why make a sequel to a GREAT game and tone-down and not put much effort into the ONE THING that made it stand out above other FPS's?

I was thinking of taking it back, but then I realized that I was playing RED FACTION 2 and said...''Hey, although it sucks in some ways, its still one of my favorite games sequel and for that I won't take it back.''

If you like Fps's give it at least a rental. Hey you might like it. However, I thought it could have been better. ESPECIALLY THE GEO-MOD!

Final Score: 7.8, The 7 was because I couldn't put fractions.
