The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Review by Elrond the Elf
"Better than Fellowship!"
To put it simply, this game is the coolest. In my opinion, this is the best game to hit PS2 since Dynasty Warriors 3!
Gameplay - 10/10
This is where the Two Towers shines. This battle system is similar to DW3(dynasty warriors 3). But for 1 exception. This game takes a bit more strategy. You have to be able to fight orcs and Uruk-Hai at the same time blocking arrows and shooting arrows. Your able to upgrade your characters Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolos, to higher levels and buy them weapons and skill upgrades with the exp points you earn in battle. Only one problem with this... no co-op mode. This game would be the perfect game if it was co-op. Even though it is missing this feature, I still think this is the greatest game.
Story - 10/10
The game is based the first to films in the LOTR trilogy, the Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers. If you read the book, you may be disappointed that some of the details arent in the movie or this game, but the gameplay makes up for that. It starts with the battle at mount doom where sauron first loses his Ring, goes into the battle at Weathertop and ends in Helms Deep.
Graphics/Sound - 10/10
This is easily a 10. The music goes with the mood of the surroundings your in. The characters voices are played by the real actors, for instance, Aragorn's voice is played by Viggo Mortensen and Legolos's voice is played by Orlando Bloom. You can hear the swords clash when in battle, the arrows shooting in the air, and people in battle yelling for help. These sounds will feel like your actually in battle.
Replay Value - 10/10
Two Towers is one of the few adventure games that has a great replay value. The thing that makes you want to play again, is the fact that there are so many interesting things to unlock in this game. There are character interviews, pictures from the movie, artwork, a secret level and a secret character. You also will want to completely power up your character with upgrades. Plus, my favorite level is the funnest of them all. You get to knock down ladders when orcs and Uruk-Hai are trying to climb up. And if an enemy is standing near the ledge, just kick him and you get to see him fall off.
Buy or Rent? - Buy of course
There isnt one reason that I can think of not to buy this game. It has could replay value, good gameplay, and great graphics and sound. The only reason you shouldnt buy, is if you got a whole lotta money to rent this a lot because once you play, you cant stop!
Overall - 10/10
This game absolutely deserves every bit of credit and more that it got. Even if your not the biggest LOTR fan, its still a great game to play. Only one bad thing, no Elrond : ( Oh well, its still the greatest in my opinion.
