"Time to kick some serious terrorist BUTT!!!"

I had seen this in Wal-Mart while spending some B-Day Money, I had enough so I picked this up, along with some other goodies. I got home and started it up. It was great, I don't think I'll ever get tired of this masterpiece.

Control: 10/10
This game has so many things that you can do, and often times in situations like this, the controls become gnarled and hard to use(i.e. The PS2 version of Conflict Zone). Not so in Dropship. If you take the training course, you will be an ace flyer in no time.

Replay Value: 8/10
If you beat this game within a week of getting it, be proud, I still havent beaten the 6th level! I know after I beat this game, It won't be heading to Funcoland any time soon! As I said, the gameplay has enough variation to keep you playing over and over again.

Gameplay: 10/10
This game does things right. Not only do you get to fly three different classes of dropships (Assault, Defence, and one other but the name escapes me), but on a few of the missions, you go right into the heat of battle in a Warthog-like vehicle. Some missions you fly, some missions you drive, and some missions you shoot while someone drives for you. The game offers just enough variation to keep you playing.

Graphics: 9/10
The graphics in Dropship are breath taking, and the capture the action perfectly. In one mission, I was shooting a turret ina Warthog at a helicopter, and when the helicopter went down, it nearly crashed on top of us! When you watch replays of your missions, it is like watching a futuristic top gun. The explosions are perfect and very realistic. The only real quirk here are the foot soldiers. Its almost like they are two-dimensional, although you rarely get close enough to tell.

Sound/Music: 10/10
Ok, the bg music isn't very prominent and it really doesn't matter, seeming as how the sound effects are perfect! Realistic radio chatter sounds throughout the mission, all of the sound effects sound as real as you can get with vulcan chainguns sounding off and S.A.M. Defenses chucking out homing missles every which way.

Storyline: 8/10
The storlyine is thus: You are a new recruit in the UPF; the United Peace Force. You, your co-pilot Eva, and your Wing Team go to various countries such as North Africa, Columbia, Kazahkstan, and a few others counter striking terrorist maneuvers. The story isn't much, but it keeps up with the rest of the game.

Rent or Buy?
If you want action, thrills, and maybe even a few spills (there are some heavy duty air stunts and a first person view mode) then definately buy this game!
