Legends of Wrestling II
Review by Japer
"20+ years of wrestling packed into one game"
Last year when the first Legend's of Wrestling came out, I was truly amazed with all of these great wrestlers on one game. Acclaim has greatly improved the game over the year, and made an even better game.
graphics:8
One of the strong points of the game. All of the models look incredibly accurate, unlike last years Legends that all looked like they were on steroids. The only thing I can think of that would have made this category better, would be facial damage. It could be a bit more realistic, along with the blood, but even with the lack of attention to facial damage, the character models and moves animations are enough to give it an 8.
Sound:7
One of the weaker points in my opinion. The wrestler sounds are not very accurate, and there are almost no true theme songs. However, the songs during the matches, like ''Superstar'' are enough to give it a 7.
Gameplay:9
This game is wonderful when it comes to gameplay. The moves are a bit tricky to figure out at first, but once you get the hang of it, its smooth sailing from there on. There are plenty of different game modes, like exhibition, which you can select from single, tag, 3 way dance, 4 way dance, cage match, and a ladder match.
However, the Career mode far surpasses any in recent games. You choose a legend, or a created wrestler, and choose a region to wrestle in. Then, a random pick of the story occurs. I won't give any of them away, but they are very entertaining. After you have your story chosen, the promoter in the region gets you matches, and eventually you fight for the region title. Overall, this is the best part of Legends of Wrestling 2.
CAL:6
Unfortunately,, the Create a Legend mode is not as good as other create a wrestler modes. Its pretty much only a bit above those found in WWF Attitude. But despite its lack of things, you can still create some creative legends.
Replayability: 9
With 65+ legends, you will have plenty to work for. As well as the different stories in career mode. This game may not seem very complete when you begin, but once you start unlocking legends, it gets MUCH better. This game should keep you busy for a while.
Buy or Rent: If you are a old school wrestling fan, buy this game immediately. If you are a modern wrestling fan, I suggest that you rent this game before you buy it, because things are done differently in this game than what you would be used to. Even general fighting fans may be interested in trying this game.
