"I wish I had a gun..."

The advertisements for E.O.E were very cool looking, giving off stills of the game with nice looking graphics, and a seemingly good combat system.
But they were just stills...
Eve of Extinction is a game like no other mainly because of it's lack of originality and gameplay.

Story=2- The story begins with Wisdom Inc. creating a series of ten weapons with pieces of Atlantis and using souls to imbue the power of the weapon, then use them to rule the world. Yawn. The story is just another re-hash of a tycoon millionaire gone loco and attempting to control the universe. Well, if anyone has any sense in them they'll realize that evil won't triumph in this game or any other. Anyway, employee Josh and his girlfriend Eliel escape, but her nervous system is locked inside his first weapon. and now he journeys to stop the evil Wisdom Inc. It's been done.

Controls=3- In some instances, the games controls seem great for the situation at hand, but about 76% of the time it doesn'te. For instance, if you need to change a weapon to compleate a combo, you have to hit R1 or L1 to change the weapon. And in some cases, you have to use weapons to get to certain heights, and before you hit the ground and die, you must use the appropriate weapon to save yourself. It seems awkward to use the shoulder buttons to change weapons since you must still use the directional pad to change the weapon before it can be equipped. Ack!

Graphics=4- Certain environments, such as the Aztec Ruins, look beautiful.. from the front. Once you actually land on the rocky crag, its mostly just brown caverns and walls from here on in. Underwater effects look great but unfortunately, they only appear in this one area in the game. Inside of buildings are just gray walls and blandly colored rooms of different shades of gray. Characters look well represented in the game, but poor collision detection bring it down.

Sound=2- Music isn't the biggest factor in E.O.E, mainly because it isn't the best you want to hear. Character voices sound good, but you can't really see them speak the words, because when they do, either the action is too fast to see or they have pathetic one-liners before the cut-scene ends. The sound of a punch hitting an enemy is as lame as it sounds in Kakuto Chojin.

Gameplay=2- Enemy A.I is pitiful, mainly since they'll just stand around until you hit them or your in their face. Josh has a hand to hand combat selection to choose from, but compared to using a weapon, mainly hardcore gamers stand in that line of fire, and his attacks in hand to hand don't do NEARLY enough damage as a Legacy weapon. Bosses are also bad, either being extremely strong and weaving a powerful weapon or they are very witty, as to setting traps for you and then nailing you with a weapon which quickly chops down your health. Legacy Drive are the powerful moves that each weapon can do are VERY hard to pull off, taking good timing to do. A factor that brings the score down.

All in all, E.O.E ranks at the bottom of the Action/Adventure game list; this could have been avoided, but lack of good qualities, originality and time to think make E.O.E a bad game.

Overall score=2
