Seek and Destroy
Review by masongriff
"10 Bucks is worth it! Go for it! But read this first!"
Description
This is one of the first ps2 budget titles and if they keep comin like this than gamers on a bufget wont be dissapointed. The game is pretty much about fighting tanks and upgrading them between missions.
Story-4
This game didnt need a story but I guess its good that they included one. The story is pretty lame though. Very lame story. I didnt follow it at all, cause there was really nothing to follow.
Graphics-6
Seek and destroys graphics fit the games all around cheep feel quite nicely and do what they need to do and no more. The textures are almost nonexistant. Some have said on this games board that the graphics could have been done on the psx. I disagree with that and beleive that if this game was on the psx than it would be called the most graphically astounding game on the psx, that is not a very high praise for the ps2 standards though. In a nutshell, there is rarely any slowing of framerate and the drawdistance is infinite which is nice.
Sound-5
This is an even weaker part of the game than the graphics. Absolutely no voice overs to be found throughout the game is bearable. The music can be decent at times but is nothing special. The sound effects are the low point, the engine noises just get to me and when you pause the game the sound stays on the current engine noise and it sounds like errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, which as you see can get quite annoying. Missile and bullet effects are a bit below par and I personally didnt notice that there was any sound effects until a I was about halfway through the game.
Gameplay-9
The bottom line is that this game is fun. So many upgradable items which will burn away the hours just buying, upgrading and selling. There are approximately 100 tanks in the game and you get a new tank after you accomplish just about anything, ranging from minigames in the town to the main missions. You easily move around the the game with the left analog stick and you move your tanks ''turret'' with the right analog stick. The game is quite simple to control and you can tweak and upgrade the handling to your liking. And an added feature is the ability to add plane parts and boat parts to your tank and it is quite fun to fly around in the missions once you have one of the various flying parts.
Replay value-8
I Bought the game yesterday afternoon and beat it this morning, theres 25 missions and the game lasts about 4 hours. After I beat it the game takes you back to the first mission and at this point im most likely going to keep playing.
Final-7
Rent or Buy? No competition, if you want this game at all then buy it! you wont be disapointed and even if you are it only ten bucks! Buy this game. This game is better than some 50 dollar games out there. It wont ruin your weekend to pick this one up.
