Theme Park Roller Coaster
Review by niai mitch
"Ever dreamed of designing your own Theme Park? Now you can!"
The game ''Theme Park'' was a great hit many years ago. Many people thought it was one of the best simulator games ever. Now this sequel has been released for the PSX and PS2. Is this a good game or just an effort to cash in from the originals success?
GAMEPLAY -
The idea of the game is simple.
Build a Theme Park and make lots of money while keeping your young visitors happy. You must build rides, shops, sideshows and features such as palm trees to decorate your park. If you get a bit confused there is a little man in the bottom right hand corner who will suggest what you should do. After a while he does get slightly annoying but it does help you a great deal. (Also remember to place plenty of toilets!) However the game doesn't end there. You need to hire guards to keep your visitors safe, mechanics to maintain your machinery, entertainers to, well, entertain your guests, researchers to discover new things for your park and of course cleaners to keep the place free of litter. You can customize your park to your hearts content. You can change everything from the chance of winning at the sideshows to the amount of salt on your fries. You can earn golden tickets by reaching certain goals, such as getting 100 people to visit your park or decorating your park with many features. You can use these tickets to buy new parks. Each park has a different theme and different rides so after you've done a lot of work in one park you can go start another one. There is also a camcorder mode. This means that you can go into first person mode and walk about the park. You can even try out your rides (a very fun thing to do when you put the speed to maximum).
I would give the Gameplay 7/10
GRAPHICS
The graphics are bright and colourful and somewhat cartoony. They suit the game well and differ in each level. The horror level for example is dark and gloomy but still keeps the cartoony feel. If you don't like ''kiddy'' games you might not like the graphics in this game.
I would give the Graphics 8/10
PLAY TIME/REPLAYABILITY
You might finish this pretty quickly. There are only 4 levels but you can put a lot of time into just one. If you play this non stop you will have finished it in about 3 days.
I would give Play Time/Replayability 4/10
FINAL SCORE
It is good fun while it lasts but it simply is not long enough. Somehow the other game seemed to have more replay vaulue. If you can find it in a bargain bin somewhere then by all means give it a go but don't waste your cash by dishing out £40 on it.
I give this game 6/10
