Haven: Call of the King

"I am rather enjoying this one."

From the fact the sales of this one aren't doing great and the fact I got it for only 29.95 I figured it might be an ok game. The commercials looked pretty good, so I thought I would try it, and I have been pleasently suprised. I am really enjoying it. Granted I am a positive guy so you may wanna read other reviews of it but these scores are just my opinion.

Presentation 10/10

This game starts out with an impressive title sequence showing the planet. The menus and options are easy to use as well. It comes off as kind of an epic game.

Sound 10/10

The music in this one is great. The voice acting is good to as I found myself understanding everything the characters were saying. But back to the music...I just loved it, from the opening titles to the gameplay itself like I said of the presentation it is epic.

Graphics 8/10

The graphics aren't the best...but I thought they were rather good here. The backgrounds are pretty good and there is good vision as you can see places you are going to in the distance. The characters are rather good too, thought not in the caliber of say a Final Fantasy X.

Gameplay 9/10

So far it has been a shooter, a racer, and a Jak and Daxter type action game...Jak and Daxter is probably one that is the most like it of the games I have played, but I am finding myself enjoying this one more. Though unfortunately there are a couple of obstacles in the game I have run across that will make you wanna pull your hair out as our hero sometimes doesn't do what you want him to do and you get to watch him die numerous times because of it. Example scenes you have to jump ledge to ledge sometimes he grabs the ledge and sometimes he doesn't.

Story 9/10

The story involves a youth having dreams of a bell that will summon a king to vanquish the evil ruler of the world. I haven't won it yet so I really don't know how it will turn out, but from what I have played it has been great.

As I have said this is just my opinion...be sure to read others before trying this game out...though I do recommend it to those who like a lot of different styles in their games.
