"WOW! But not enough to get a 10"

The creators of Mortal Kombat have always given us great games. All Mortal Kombats in my opinion were good and well thought out. This game, doesn't disappoint me at all, it brought me a load of things to do, and to keep me busy. Its has many options, and many modes to choose from.

First Impression: 2/10
''WOW! this game is the best'' is what I said when I popped it into my PS2. The amount of Kontent this game had was amazing, the intro movie was very good.... yet sad. As I saw everything in the menus my jaw dropped. When I started to play, I TRIED to get used to using the new battle system. It was cool, yet dull. I kept on playing for like 2 days, I tried every playable character out..... That very same day I was going to return it. I thought it was the WORST fighting game of my life. I was so disappointed. I kept on playing I got used to the fighting styles and such. I realized the characters had hardly any special moves. I was truly disappointed with how this game was introduced.

Graphics: 10/10
1 Thing I always said is ''Graphics don't make a game'', this game was top notch in graphics. The graphics in this game are truly awesome. One thing that I found cool was that the characters have 3 stages in their face cuts. 1st stage is when the cuts start to show up, 2nd stage with bruises and more cuts, and 3rd stage where they look like monsters. The characters are well formed, and look good in the new fighting styles. The CG's are beautifully done, and look really cool. Stages are well defined, and look real. The girl fighters are beautiful their boobies bounce like water balloons, I'm surprised they don't get a nipple slip. I thought every character was well defined and well thought out, one thing that bothered me was the blood, there was just so much...... but that can always be fixed, since the game has a blood control in the game options. The blood looks unrealistic coming out of the character, but when it touches floor it looks real.

Game Play: 9/10
IMO this is the most important aspect of ANY game. When I first played the game, the game play didn't really catch my attention. Not until I finally knew how to play did this game become the best fighting game in the world. In the beginning I thought this game was a piece of crap but time had proved me wrong. As I got better the game became really good. And then I played multi-player with a friend and my jaw dropped. This game was awesome once I got used to it. The only reason it got a 9 is because of 2 things, 1. The lack of Special moves, I mean some characters only have 2!... I remember in old Mortal Kombat where a character had like 10, now Midway decides to put 2....... but one thing is for sure, that the combo system is awesome, and I guess it can make up for the lack of special moves. Secondly, the fact that all the characters (except 2) only have 1 fatality, but I must say some fatalitys are awesome (Sub-Zero), while some are just plain ol' stupid (Quan Chi). Also there are no brutality's. IMO brutality's were awesome, although hard to do, and very tricky at times. Those are probably the reason the game play deserves a 9. Besides those 2 negatives, the game play is awesome, and can live up to previous Mortal Kombats.

Sound/Music/Voices: 7/10
They could have done a better job. Most people didn't even notice the music. The screams could have been more realistic, some of them sound more like orgasms than torture screams. Although weapon sound effects, and fatality music was cool.

Replay Value: 99/10
The replay value of this game is jaw dropping. This game can keep you busy for quite a while. With everything that can be unlocked in this game I think the game can go on for ages. This is probably where the game shines the most. The Krypt has a big role in this, just imagine walking into a room filled with about 640 koffins, and winning tournaments and going on journeys to unlock them with ''Kurrency'' that is gained. Also there is a varying difficulties with novice being the easiest and MAX being the hardest. Also there are a lot of characters to choose from and master, and most importantly get their endings. There is somewhat a custom combo way of doing things. Pretty cool.

Extras: 10/10
There are so many extras you can get from Koffins its not even funny. There are pictures of creators and such. They have fan art, and even all the pages to their comic. Their are some hysterical videos, while some just are down right stupid. There are many extra characters, and many extra levels. You also have alternate costumes.

Overall this game was extremely good, it was IMO one of the best fighting games out there. IMO this game makes VF4 look like nothing, but I still think Soul Calibur is better.
