The Sims

"Finally, a good simulation game for PS2"
Hello, this is my review for The Sims. I hope it helps.
Graphics-9
The Sims has awesome graphics to put it simply. Everything looks like it would in real life from the chairs to the car that picks you up from work, which is an important attribute to any simulation game. But there is one minor drawback in the graphics, and the faces. Both of the things previously are blurry, sometimes beyond recognition. When your sims are walking around, you can hardly see there faces. It looks like a body with a head but no face. One of my friends once said that it looks like a head that is just a big blob of skin and hair, which can sometime be true. But overall the graphics are very good so it gets a 9.
Gameplay-10
The Sims has one of the best gameplays I have ever seen. Take your choice, you can either build your own dream house, have a family, and get a great job in “Play the Sims” mode, or watch your sim go from being a mamas boy to a wealthy family man in “Get a Life” mode. Either of them are awesome. Personally, I like “Get a Life” over “Play the Sims”, but hey, it’s your game, play whatever you like best. The Sims also has a two-player mode that is also really fun to play. Overall, I give gameplay a 10.
Controls-10
When I first heard the Sims was coming out for Playstation 2, the first question that popped into my head was, “What are the controls going to be like?” Well was I in for a surprise for the controls are easier than the PC version. Yes it is true. The controls are extremely easy to memorize. I would have to say it took me about 5 minutes to learn what every button did. There is one set back and that is you cant super fast forward the game, you can only fast forward it (fast forwarding meaning speeding up), but since the controls are so good, not even the inability to fast forward stops me from giving controls a 10.
Sound-10
Grinders grinding, children laughing, cars horns honking, music playing, light bulbs breaking, and the fire alarm going off are all sounds you hear in The Sims, but all of these sounds would not be good if they didn’t sound exactly like they do in actual life. Yes, it is true that the sound in this game is awesome. Some people may take the sound for granted but I might have given this game an 8 if it wasn’t for the sound. Sound gets a big 10.
Fun Factor-9
If I were a sim, playing this game would make my fun meter go sky rocketing upwards. There aren’t many games out there that are as fun as this game is. Whether I am setting my sim on fire, or getting in a fight with my neighbor, this game never ceases to get boring. But once again there is one major set back. This game can get very annoying, especially when it comes to getting promoted in your career and starting a relationship with someone. But this doesn’t damper my spirits so I give fun factor a 9.
Time-10
When you buy The Sims you’re guaranteed a long lasting, fun game. I have had this game for about a month now and I am still not finished with my “Get a Life” setting. And if you ever get bored with playing “Get a Life”, you can begin your “Play the Sims” neighborhood file and play that for another month. As stated above, I’ve had this game for about a month and it has not yet, even for a second, become boring. For all of these reasons, I give this game a 10.
Rent or Buy
I loved The Sims for the PC, so the day when The Sims came out, I bought, and luckily for me, the game was great. But you may not think so, so I suggest renting it first, just incase you buy it and you don’t like. If that happens, you just blew 50 dollars on a game you despise. That’s my reasoning for renting it first. But hey, if you really liked the PC version and really want to get this game, then yeah, buy it instead of wasting money renting it. Whatever you think is best.
Overall
Max Points-60/60
Graphics-9/10
Gameplay-10/10
Controls-10/10
Sound-10/10
Fun Factor-910
Time-10/10
Total-58/60
Well that’s my review. I hope it answered any questions you had about The Sims for PS2.
