Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
Review by FF FAN7
"The Spyros weren't exactly a miracle but Come On!"
Concept
Can be summed up in one word. ''Yawn.'' The incredibly weak storyline and horrible loading times just make this game even more painful to play. Being excited about Spyro, I went out and bought it when it was still fifty dollars and I still haven't completed it. The graphics look like they were hand drawn by a mediocre artist and the only pleasing aspect is it's voiceovers, and even that was better in the previous Spyros.
Gameplay
With it's extremely loose controls and monotonous levels and stages it's easy to see that our purple friend is Long gone. I don't see why a game this bad would even be released, I mean although the game did bring back familiar faces,it is incomparable to the best selling predecessors. Many of the games minigame were fun the first time through, but it's easy to say that you'll quit before completing the game. Lets face it, the platformer basically died with the introduction to the next-gen consoles. With missions that are completely pointless and boring and the addition of five minute loading times it is clear that we've seen the last of Spyro.
Replay Value
I'm confident to say that No one is going to play this game a second time through. Most people won't even finish it. It's lack of minigames creates a perpetual mission of collecting gems, which is, sadly, what the platformer has turned into.
Graphics
Without a doubt, the worst aspect of this game. The graphics are so plain and polygonal, that it resembles Super Mario 64. It's sad that a game that had relatively good graphics for the time hasn't improved on it since its debut. Many of the character models are so glitchy that, at times you can see right through them. The color itself is just splattered on with no detail or shading what so ever.
Sound
As I've stated before, the voiceovers in this game are the only thing keeping this above a one. The sound, which was once considered good, is now old, stale, and outdated. With companies like Sega, and Nintendo recruiting whole orchestras, beeps and bells are no longer acceptable.
Storyline
I'm sorry to say that even if I wanted to, there wouldn't be any spoilers to tell. 99.9% of the cutscenes is before you begin playing and it provides absolutely no detail.
Spyro 4 In a Nutshell: Some guy wants to take over the world. Sadly that's all the storyline you'll find in this game.
Worth
Please, do yourself a favor and don't buy this game. It is the worst game I have, and I blew fifty dollars on it. Believe me when I say it's not even worth thirty-five cents to buy a blank CD. If your going to rent a game, rent the old Spyros.
