"An okay game, but nothing groundbreaking..."

Enter the Matrix was an alright game. Nothing TERRIBLY special, but it provided lots of fun.

Gameplay 8/10

This game was pretty fun, overall. Kicking badguy ass and using the weapons is pretty fun. It isn't one of those repetitive ''kick his ass, then kick his, then...'', it was honestly pretty good, but it wasn't anything TOO special. The weapons selection was pretty good, as I had no complaints (a good mixture of pistols, automatics, and power weapons). The controls were somewhat hard to get used to in the beginning, probably because the button placement for attacks, jumping, and actions weren't really the ''mainstream placement''. I got used to it, but you could always change the controls to make it easier on yourself.
One thing I really enjoyed was the ''focus'' ability. This was the amount of energy you had left to slow things down and make all the pretty, jumpy, special Matrix-moves.
There are three difficulty levels to this game, ''Easy'', ''Medium'', and ''Hard''. (lots of variety there... :P) Medium gave me a pretty good challenge, nothing TOO hard, but it didn't leave me sleepily moving from one enemy to another.

Story 8/10

The story was pretty compelling. I won't say much, because I don't wanna give anything away, but it kept me going. You are a crewmember on a Hovercraft, trying to save Zion from some sort of new, honkin menace. You can play as either Ghost (male) or Niobe (female).
You'll probably find the story pretty easy to understand and enough to keep you watching the cinematics.

Audio/Video 7/10

The audio sequences were pretty well played out. The guns sounded pretty realistic, and the sounds were on-track.
The video acting was well done, and I enjoyed the between-mission FMV's. (in other words, the movies had real people acting).
But while you were in the Matrix, the cinematics were of the animated characters. That wasn't too bad, but there was just something about the cinematics that was just... bleh. The game's graphics were also a little grainy from my perspective, but it was nothing to complain too much about.
Overall, the audio/video was okay, but nothing great.

Replayability 6/10

This game didn't take TOO long to beat, and I found it pretty accomplishing. I, personally, found a lot of fun in playing this game some more. Especially with the discovery of cheats, it is fun to play the old levels again with infinite health, ammo, and focus. Although I like the game this much, I doubt THAT many others will...

Buy/Rent

Well, I personally liked this game, and believe you would consider this a great boring-weekend game. I would recommend you RENT this game first, then make your decision. After all, its better to waste the $5-6 to find out that you like it, than to waste the $50 to find out you don't.

In the end, I found this game pretty good, overall. You may or may not like it as much as I did, but you'll probably enjoy it somewhat.
If you're a die-hard Matrix fan, give it a shot, if you aren't... you might like it anyhow.
Enjoy!
