Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick

"This game is both Evil and Dead. Fans will be disappointed."

I am a big Evil Dead fan and I have been waiting for this game a long time. After playing the flawed Resident Evil knockoff Dreamcast version I was hoping for something better well this game is actually worse! Its more of a bad Hunter: The Reckoning knockoff. Let me explain in more detail.

Graphics: 4/10 It is sad the say the 3 year old Dreamcast version looked much better. This game looks like a N64 game or a first gen Dreacmast game. The detail is minimal in this game and character models are weak. The characters have no personality and even the hero is dead like a zombie. Backgrounds are unimpressive and repetitive. It seems all the developers cared about was lots of graphical blood.

SOUND- 5/10 The music isn't bad but it isn't great either. Lame and just there. It sounds like generic game music if you are wondering. Sound effects are poor and could hav ebeen done better and very generic. The only good part is the voice overs especially from Bruce Campell. Too bad these get very repetitive. Its not a bad sounding game just a very average one.

Control 3/10 The camera in this game is poor. Since some of the zombies movie very fast by the time you movie the camera around to seem them they are already taking away energy. Hence this makes this a very difficult game later on. The camera always does not position in the right place and you will hear zombies but not see them. A Zoom out feature would hav ebeen helpful. The button combination could be better and Bruce seems to run too slowly.

Presentation- 3/10 Despite a good opening sequence this game is full of bugs. zombies disappear in plain view and reappear out of nowhere. After the first level this game gets boring and dull. The one-liners get old fast and are lame and dull.

The final saying is that the Dreamcast/pS1 ones weere better. They had very good graphics and a excellent soundtrack despite the poor control and level design. For $20 that is still too much for this game. It is boring and repetitve and fans will be disappointed. The only people who will enjoy this are Hunter fans if you lovedf Hunter this is a poor knockoff just like the other one was to Resident Evil. Still, this is a ugly, poorly controlled mess.
