"Challenging and Addictive"

Usually I am really not in to playing these rhythm games. I like games with involving stories. But I actually liked this game.

STORY:1
There is go god **** ****** point of playing this game. There is no story at all. You are a DJ making beats or something like that.

GRAPHICS:9
These graphics are really quirky. That is a good thing though. They remind me of something you would see in games like Tron and the super awescome game Panzer Dragoon Orta. Everything looks like a big happy, colorful dream world. It starts to make you ask that one question-am I high? But the DJ character that you get to make looks like he/she is high. The characters look really messed up. It can be really frightening to see some of the weird combinations that you can make. But that is how the graphics are. They are weird and quirky.

SOUND:9
The sound in the game is amazing. The whole game is based around music so the audio quality probably is good right? Right. The game features so many licensed bands and singers. Amplitude features a bunch of good bands like Blink 182, Weezer, Papa Roach, and Slipknot(my personal favorite). There is one thing thing in the game that is really neat. That is the ability to go into your favorite songs and remix the beats and rhythms in them. I thought that was really cool. I just wish the PS2 had a custom soundtrack ability like the Xbox so I could remix all of my songs from other CDs. The audio is still top-notch.

GAMEPLAY:8
Amplitude is so lucky that it has an online mode and multiplayer or this game might get boring quick. First off, you have to create your own DJ. There are a lot of different combinations. Then you move on to the actual game. In Amplitude you control this ship and blast little thingies on each instrument track to make beats. Each different color track represents a different instrument. If the game sounds simple it is not. The game gets really challenging. There are also power-ups in the game. Some let you go into slow-motion so that you can shoot the thingies on the tracks easier. The single player game isn't a whole lot, but the multiplayer aspects of the game keep it from getting old quickly.

CONTROL:9
The game controls are very simple they are not complicated at all. The L2 or square button shoots the thingies on the left side of the tracks. The R1 or triangle button shoots the thingies in the middle of the tracks. The R2 or circle button shoots the thingies on the right of the tracks. There is one complaint though. That is that when you are constantly are shooting, hitting the power-up button can make you mess up. That isn't too big of an issue however.

OVERALL:8
Amplitude is one of those games that is just plain out fun to play. It can get hard, but it remains addictive. Personally I wouldn't buy this game. I'd rent it if I were you. If you like this game genre and if you have the network adapter then I would buy it. One way or the other you should play Amplitude.
