Resident Evil: Dead Aim
Review by Cosmotix
"An awsome improvement over the last survivors"
When I heard that Capcom was going to release a new Gun Survivor , I didn't know what to expect. Judging from the other titles in the series , I thought that this one , like its predicesors would fail miserably. Thankfuly, I was dead wrong. This game is absolutely awsome! It is the reason that people play Resident Evil. It's a proven formula that when you mix zombies , intuative game play , and a great story , your product will fly off the shelves. Of course , you have to take into consideration that the people at Capcom did all this then loaded up the entire package with steroids , gave it a freakin' arsenal of weapons , and then told it to run around and load every thing that it saw with hot lead , you would get Resident Evil: Dead Aim. However , if you don't believe me , just go to the numbers.
Graphics:10
The graphics are sharp and well designed. There is a steady framerment of about sixty frames per second with a minute amount of slow-down when there are many entities on the screen. But never fear , you can barely notice. There seems to be a mood similar to the Silent Hill seriesgoing on in here , what with the flashlight thing and all. I am happy that they ( the people at Capcom ) decided to return to the clostrophobia inducing , closed in areas , that were sorely missed in Resident Evil : Code Veronica X. My only gripe with the graphics are the redundant zombies. Too many of them look the same. Just think of it as a bunch of fancy people wearing the exact same out-fits (he-he.) The character animations , such as Bruce and Fongling , are amazingly good. Each hair on their head is viewable , it isn't like a solid piece , it has many layers. Bruce's extra mags go up and down as he moves and each weapon is well detailed , looking exactly as they should. The F.M.Vs are upto the R.E. standards as are the C.G.I movies. Now , I think that covers every thing in this department , so let's move on to sound.
Sound:10
The sound in this game is very good. As your character runs , you can hear them begin to pant and the foot falls are different as you walk on different surfaces. Also , the sound of the spent cartriges from your weapon are affected by the surface you are. The zombies have a different sound from the previous game , but you often hear the same moan and groan again and again. But considering the fact that they are dead and don't really have a whole lot to say , it is excusable. Again , sadly , there is a small problem with the sound in the movies. The problem is that there really is almost none of it. You can hardly hear what the characters are saying most of the time. My , suggestion isto use subtitles. Consequently , the subtitles don't match whatis being said. All in all the sound design is well done and performs its job.
Story:9
The story lives up to what we would expect from a R.E game. Bruce McGaven is sent to stop a
bio-terrorist from spreading the deadly T-virus upon the world. His adveture takes him from a cruise ship to a (possible spoiler???) desserted island where more zombies and other creatures await to be destroyed.
Gameplay:10
The gameplay is very good for a Gun Survivor. The controls are easy to learn , although I have not yet played it with a Gun Con , and allows you the ability to go between first-person and third-person perspectives. This allows you to really appreciate the nasty creatures featured in this game.
