King's Field: The Ancient City

One day last year I went to a video game store to look at some games,and possibly buy a game.At that store I saw this particular game.First I had asked about this game since I had not heard of this game,or a history of this game.Well since it was a new Playstation 2 game,I said what the heck,and got the game.Now I know that I had made the right choise.This game is great!

INTRODUCTION
This game is an Action-RPG game,made by Agetec.This game is somewhat popular,but not as popular as the legendary Final Fantasy,but this game is possibly right under it in my opinion.Since this game is fairly new (about a year) it is pretty easy to find.Its almost in any video game store.

GAMEPLAY 8/10
This Action-RPG is a little different than most of the Action-RPG because in a normal Action-RPG has a storyline,and you dont normally see the weapons and armor you equip.This game has a story,but its just one major thing to do.In this game you actually see the weapons and armor you equip in your menu,but the bad thing is that this game is first-person so you only see your weapon in battle.In this game you do not get other party members.Oh and most of the monsters are un-dead monsters,like skeleton warriors,and zombies.Now to battle,once you equip a weapon,you will see a red bar on the top of your screen.That shows your energy,it goes down completly if you attack,and slowly goes down when you run.Now to determine how fast the energy comes back,you must see your weapon weight,for example its common sense if you regain energy faster if you equip a short sword than a full-battle axe.Of course you may attack when the energy bar is half-way,but your weapon will do half damage of course.Magic works a little easier.There is a blue bar that represents magic energy,but you can only use magic when that bar is full.Also of course,as all RPGs if you run out of MP you can't use magic,and if you run out of HP you lose.A tip,always look at your HP during battle.

STORY 4/10
The story isn't all that great.Its goes like this.There is a powerful kingdom that recived an idol as a peace offering from a small weak kingdom under the ground.Little did that powerful kingdom know that that idol has a curse on it.Whoever holds the idol will lead a path of darkness.The king loved that idol,until one day,one dark and frightening day,the whole kingdom was destroyed,and ruins were left.The army and the king,and Prince (the main character) survived.The king orders the whole army and the greatest swordsman they had to return the idol.They had not returned.One day someone knocked the door on the prince's house.When he opens the door a hooded figure hands him the idol and walks away.He could not tell if it was even human!Well he takes the idol and attemps to return the idol.In the game you continue through the ruins of the kingdom,and the kingdom underground.Will he return the idol?Play the game to find out.

GRAPHICS/SOUND 7/10
The graphics are very nice.There is a lot of detail.It is a truly stunning game,while the sound and music is pretty good,even though the suspenceful music get boring after three hours in the game.

PLAYTIME/REPLAY VALUE 7/10
This game takes about fifty hours,sometimes more,sometimes less.It depends how good you are in an RPG.The replay value is pretty high,this game is quite addicting!

OVERALL 7/10
Altogether this is an awesome game!

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
Unless you rent this game three or four times,its just better to get this game.its a great game.even people who don't like RPG games will like this game!Its a great present,so its a good idea to keep an eye out for this game!
