"I guess the olden days are... well, the olden days."

I must admit, I was skeptical to but this at first, but to be fair I decided to give the game a try. So, I head up to my local Babbage's, and pick up a copy for $39.99, and I get home, and I'm ready to play. I start of the game with both fingers on the joystick to come to realize... It is only used on one joystick. Now this is rather uncomfortable for me seeing as I haven't used one joystick since... well, Goldeneye. The game tends to be rather slow at first, but quickly picks up. Well when I finished the game I was very pleased with it. Shocked at how good the game actually turned out. Well with that aside... Here is my review...

Plot: 10/10
Your basic RE plot with a little bit of razzel dazzel. Didn't stray too far from the traditional RE, but when you play you will realize it strays a bit towards the RE:Zero kind of plot. Bruce is an excellent character, and the voice acting is above par. Nonetheless this bulk of the game is really good.

Sound:8/10
Sometimes the sounds were a bit too loud, and I had to get out of the rooms rather quickly... that annoyed me. The music was well different from the traditional RE which upset me a bit. The game had some good scares, but that small techno I heard in the background didn't help boost the scares. I was a tiny bit upset with this aspect, but I got over it, and managed to finish the game.

Graphics:8/10
The CGs were amazing. One of the best graphics I've ever seem pulled off on the PS2, but the in game graphics are a different story. Although they seemed smooth most of the time, you can see the textures break, and what-not, but you really don't seem to mind it unless you're a graphical freak. Than again the CGs were a big plus in my book I just love watching them.

Controls:7/10
I had some beef with this section at first seeing as though I haven't used the single joystick since like 1997, but the controls are pretty easy once you get the knack of it. It is like playing a traditional RE for the first time... You get used to the controls rather quick, well it is no different for this, but I just wish they could have made it double joystick, and than I would have been extremely happy.

Fun Factor:9/10
Extremely fun, and entertaining. There were a good amount of scares that make you shake, and than laugh at yourself. It is also fun to see the zombies go flying backward when you shoot them. This game is heavily weighed on fun factor... I felt like I was in an arcade. Snap in the guncon2, and your all set for a great time. The only reason I deducted a point from this sections is because it was rather short. It could have been much longer. My first run through was like 2hrs.

BUY, RENT or FORGET?
BUY BUY BUY! Doesn't matter who you are... Hardcore REfan or not... you wont regret throwing down $40 for this game. Have some friends over, and buy a guncon2, and see who can beat the game faster with most kills, and you will have a blast. I hope this review helped you, and I will be signing off now. In closing, It is about time Capcom did something right.
