RC Revenge Pro
Review by Black lce
"Who says big power can't come in small packages?"
RC Revenge Pro is an underrated racing game by Acclaim that shouldn't be missed. It features the first ever RC boats, an arsenal of weapons waiting to be collected, exclusive movie-themed worlds and over 30 vehicles to play around with.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics are nearly perfect. The environments are very well done and the vehicles have very nice detail. The places you race in are simply beautiful. However, some trees and off-course things can look kind of blocky sometimes.
Gameplay: 7/10
The gameplay is very basic. A simple X to accelerate, circle to fire weapons, square for breaks and other buttons for less-used simple functions. The game has tons of different types of weapons and support items to help you. They all have different functions and all gel in with the game beautifully. There are also secret passage ways and speed boosts in almost every level, which makes the game even more fun. You also get the option of making your own race track if the stages aren't enough for you. In some stages, you even have the choice of racing on land or by sea. There are also tons of stages and new cars to unlock. The game really annoys in loading times though. They're absurd.
The game boasts four different gameplay modes:
Championship: The basic Gold cup, Silver cup, Bronze cup tournament kind of thing. You'll find yourself playing this one the most, hoping to unlock new stuff.
Single Race: Just a basic one-player race. Not too much going on here, the mode is just for practice.
Time Trail: There are pre-set records waiting for you to beat if you're done with the Championship mode. This isn't pointless, however. Some of them unlock a few secrets. I can't tell you any more. Most of the Time Trails are very tough to tackle, but after the Championship mode, you'll be experienced enough.
Multiplayer: Just a normal 2-player race.
Story: 1/10
This is where the game lacks massively. There is very very little or no story at all. Although, it is a racing game and was made just for fun after all.
Sound: 7/10
The game has great sound effects coming from all over the place. You'll sometimes find yourself wondering what made a certain sound effect and looking closely the next lap around to find out what it was. The music is average, not too much going on here.
Rent or Buy:
This game can be finished in a rental, but it is very cheap. If you're looking for a quick game to play with a friend, this is a definite buy. If you're just looking for a good racing game to play, this is just another rent.
Overall, this game receives a 6/10. It's very fun, but gets old after you've beaten it.
